-- WWE's flagship show - Monday Night Raw - labored through its worst week by generating an audience of barely 1.5 million, the lowest in history. A previous report noted that these tanking viewership numbers did not go unnoticed by WWE officials and that immediate and drastic reaction was to be expected. Talksport.com's Alex McCarthy claims that the unhappiness extends beyond WWE and to the USA Network, which is shelling out $265 million annually for the rights to air Raw. According to this report, the USA Network is "furious" at the latest figures and are pushing WWE for more adult oriented content - not "sexy adult", but dark and violent adult. Whether WWE goes in that direction remains to be seen, but the company is fully hoping that January's Royal Rumble PPV could serve as a "big reset" on their characters and storylines.
-- WWE's plans over the last couple of years to combat sinking ratings has been to launch Raw Underground, the 24/7 title, cross-over from Smackdown, as well as the infamous segment where Shane, Stephanie, Vince and Triple H all appeared promising to give the fans what they want.
