-- Netflix's "Mr. McMahon" docuseries is set to be released tomorrow, with all six episodes dropping at once on the streaming platform. With the release drawing closer, former WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon popped up in the news yesterday, releasing a critical statement towards the docuseries, asking the audience to keep in mind that there are two sides to the story. As it turns out, there was a major behind-the-scenes development that could have prevented the release altogether.
-- Matthew Belloni of the Puck News wrote in his newsletter that Vince attempted to purchase the rights to the docuseries from Netlfix but was rebuffed: "After seeing early footage, McMahon actually tried to buy the project back from Netflix, per two sources familiar." When that failed, McMahon went to his new business partner at the time, Ari Emanuel, to "chime in on his behalf, also voicing concern about the doc's treatment of McMahon's alter ego, Mr. McMahon." Netflix refused to let the project go and the series underwent some revisions once McMahon left WWE and after the Janel Grant scandal broke.
