During a recent appearance on Lilian Garcia's Chasing Glory podcast, NXT Superstar Rhea Ripley explained the interesting origins of how her unique look for her wrestling character came to be.
Ripley explained to the longtime WWE ring announcer during her appearance on the weekly podcast that her look came about because she decided to wet her hair before going to the ring once and it stuck.
"I decided to wet my hair beforehand because it was just too hot," Ripley told Garcia. "Because I was actually dying backstage and then I went out there, wrestled, came back [and] I was like, ‘That was the best thing I ever done.’ So now I just do it from now on."
She also elaborated on her style preferences, explaining that she doesn't exactly fit the mold of a "business casual" look.
"It’s like even when we have to dress up and stuff, like business casual, I’m like, ‘Guys, I don’t do business casual,'" Ripley said. "Like, if I can wear a leather jacket with studs and chains on it, that’s my business casual. I don’t even want to wear heels!"
Ripley added, "It’s good cause now that I’ve shown them exactly who I am and the fans know who I am, the fans know pretty much, I get away with it."
