WWE legend and current Board of Director member Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson came up short in his quest to capture a Golden Globe.
Johnson was nominated for the first time for the Globe award for his role in "The Smashing Machine" but lost the award to actor Wagner Moura, for his performance in "The Secret Agent."
Rock's co-star, Emily Blunt, was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role but like the Rock, she also lost with Teyana Taylor taking home the honors instead.
In "The Smashing Machine", The Rock played former MMA and UFC star Mark Kerr, while his girlfriend's role of Dawn Staples was played by Blunt. The movie underperformed at the box office, raking in only $21 million.
The Rock's daughter, Ava, who plays the on-screen GM for WWE's NXT brand was in attendance at the Golden Globe Awards and commented on the nomination: "Proud is such an understatement. Congratulations to all the winners & nominees."
