Roman Reigns Reportedly to Take Most of This Summer Off

-- Last week, Roman Reigns caused a bit of a stir online when he made some comments at a house show about entering a "new phase" of his career, prompting some to wonder what his future with WWE would look like. A couple of days later, it was then reported that Reigns signed a new multi-year contract with WWE that would see the undisputed champion of the promotion work less dates moving forward.

-- In a new report from the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, it appears that Reigns' reduced schedule is going to commence as early as next month. In advertising and promotional material that WWE released, Reigns is notably absent from almost all WWE live events through the summer, the exception being two PPVs - Money in the Bank and SummerSlam. That would mark a two-plus month stretch from late June to the end of August in which he will not be on TV apart from the above events.

-- Dave Meltzer discussed the absence on Observer Radio but noted that he wasn't sure what the specific reason was for this reduced schedule, whether it's simply to spend time with his family or whether he has some outside commitments such as a movie. It's also not clear whether Reigns will hold onto both WWE titles during this stretch or whether WWE will go in a different direction with one or two new champs.
