Sami Zayn Vacates WWE Intercontinental Title; New Champ to be Crowned Via Tournament


-- It was announced last night on 'WWE Backstage' that Sami Zayn has vacated the Intercontinental title as a result of being unable to compete and that a tournament will take place to crown a new champion. Zayn reportedly has chosen not to travel or compete amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament will begin this Friday night on Smackdown though the competitors who will participate were not announced. WWE taped this Friday's Smackdown on Monday.

With Sami Zayn currently unable to defend the Intercontinental Championship, it was revealed on WWE Backstage on FS1 that the title has been declared vacant.
