Several Big Matches For NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 20 Expected To Be Announced Next Week

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, several big matches for NJPW's Wrestle Kingdom 20 are expected to be announced early next week. The report also mentioned that NJPW's upcoming Final Homecoming show is the last significant event before Wrestle Kingdom 20, which means key match details should be revealed between Sunday and Tuesday.

There is speculation that WWE star Shinsuke Nakamura could be Hiroshi Tanahashi’s last opponent. Earlier this month, it was reported that Nakamura’s name had been discussed in relation to NJPW. However, since Nakamura is under contract with WWE, they would need to approve any potential appearance, raising questions about whether this will happen—especially given NJPW’s relationship with AEW.

Dave Meltzer noted that Nakamura has been frequently mentioned, and that there are many political considerations surrounding the possibility of his involvement. The Wrestle Kingdom 20 show is scheduled for January 4, 2026, and in addition to Tanahashi’s retirement match, Aaron Wolf’s in-ring debut against EVIL is also set for the event.
