Shane McMahon Reportedly Receiving Backstage Heat; Pulled From Elimination Chamber Match

-- On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Shane McMahon's involvement in the Royal Rumble was discussed and it was noted that coming out of it, there was a lot of backstage heat on McMahon. Not only was he a participant in the men's match, but Shane was the "head producer" and presumably booked himself to look good at the expense of some of the other wrestlers.

-- While he has no official office position with WWE, Vince McMahon has left the men's Rumble match to Shane to book not only this year but in years past and the way he took charge reportedly rubbed people the wrong way. Dave Meltzer also noted that Shane was pencilled into compete in the men's Elimination Chamber match and WrestleMania as well, but those plans have been pulled and he was replaced at Elimination Chamber by Austin Theory.

-- The plan was apparently to have Shane involved in the Elimination Chamber match to set up a match against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania but that is out the window now though it's unclear if it's because the heat he is getting backstage led to that or whether Vince simply went in a different direction.
