Last night's episode of Friday Night SmackDown, which was the go-home episode of this coming Sunday's WWE WrestleMania Backlash PPV, saw King Corbin pick up a surprise victory over Shinsuke Nakamura in a Singles Match. This match was reportedly Nakamura's idea after Corbin pinned him last Friday in a 10-Man Tag Team Match on the Throwback episode of SmackDown.
After losing to Corbin, Shinsuke Nakamura attacked him and grabbed King Corbin's crown. Nakamura then raised Corbin's crown over his head in an odd moment and placed the crown on top of his own head. The King Of Strong Style then celebrated as fans cheered him on.
Prior to the match, WWE aired a pre-recorded promo of Nakamura saying that King Corbin is the King of the Ring, while he is the King of Style, and that only one King would survive the night. WWE released a post-SmackDown video of Nakamura wearing King Corbin's crown in the backstage area while looking at himself in the mirror and saying he is the real king and The King Of Strong Style is back.
We would also see Nakamura participate in a backstage photo shoot with Corbinβs crown on his head.
There's no word yet on where the company is going with the feud between Corbin and Nakamura, but itβs likely that we will see them face each other again next Friday on SmackDown, with Nakamura picking up the win this time.
