The latest episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown just recently concluded, but the company has already announced matches for next week's show. As previously reported, next week’s episode of SmackDown will see Commander Azeez make his in-ring debut as he and WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews go up against Big E and Kevin Owens in Tag Team action. Azeez is the former Dabba-Kato (Babatunde Aiyegbusi in NXT and RAW Underground). Despite already competing for WWE NXT and RAW Underground, next Friday’s match will be the first time he competes as Azeez.
It was also announced that next week's SmackDown will see Shinsuke Nakamura and King Corbin face each other in Singles action, with King Corbin’s crown on the line. For weeks now, Corbin and Nakamura has been in a back-and-forth feud over Corbin's crown, which all started when Corbin defeated Nakamura on the May 14th episode of SmackDown, which Nakamura got back when he defeated King Corbin on the May 21 SmackDown episode.
Nakamura then defeated Chad Gable on the May 28th SmackDown episode, but lost to Corbin the next week on the June 4th episode. During last night's SmackDown episode, Nakamura once again beat Corbin, with Rick Boogs and his guitar at ringside.
Corbin has been trying to get his crown back and was really close last week, but was unsuccessful. On last night's SmackDown episode, Nakamura brought the crown with him during the match and placed it on the announce table. Right after the match, Corbin tried to retrieve the crown, but it was thwarted by Rick Boogs as he would once again help Nakamura get it back. Corbin would then head backstage and try and confront WWE official Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville demanding that they tell Nakamura to give the crown back. Pearce then said that he had a better idea and booked the match for next week's SmackDown with Corbin's crown on the line.
