Sonya Deville Reportedly Wanted to Fight Charlotte Flair Following Last Week's WWE Smackdown

-- As has been extensively covered over the weekend, the big news coming out of last week's WWE Friday Night SmackDown was a backstage confrontation between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, which occurred after Flair went off script and pulled the Raw women's title away from Lynch and instead dropped it to the ground. Flair defended her actions by saying it was an accident, but almost everyone believes it was done on purpose to show Lynch up which is what got the two women into a heated altercation.

-- PWinsider.com reports that the confrontation took place in the Gorilla position in plain view of both Vince McMahon, Bruce Prichard and other officials. The report adds that apart from Lynch being upset at Flair, Sonya Deville, who was in the ring at the time with the two of them, was angry enough to want to fight Flair and at one point, also was in a full-blown argument with Flair backstage.

-- As previously noted, the blame for the incident is falling almost entirely on Charlotte and it is not the first time over the past couple of months where Flair's behavior has been questioned, recently in a match against Nia Jax that ended up turning into somewhat of a shoot before order was restored. The above report suggests that the criticism towards Flair is because she has been "self-indulgent" towards protecting her character while making sure all the "attention" is on her. One source seemed to brush it off saying it's what all stars do while another said the tension towards Charlotte has been building for weeks and it was only a matter of time before things erupted.

-- Some have also speculated that perhaps this is Charlotte's attempts at trying to get out of her contract so she can join her fiance Andrade in AEW, however, she is reportedly under contract for multiple years and while people have been pushing her to try and get out, nobody expects WWE will even consider that option. On last week's SmackDown following the incident, Flair was escorted out by a WWE official and those close to her saw that as a sign of "disrespect" given her status within the company and there are others who are looking at this coming Friday's show to see how she handles herself though crossing paths with Becky Lynch won't potentially happen until at least the Survivor Series which in recent times has pitted the two brands against one another.
