On Friday, WWE held Smackdown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and very quickly into the show, a technical glitch occurred on the live Netflix stream for international viewers which caused the show to pause and then go off air for several moments.
At the time that it happened, many speculated that the issue was with Netflix losing the stream and/or transmission from overseas but in actuality, it was actually a power outage in Riyadh that affected WWE's entire production including the control room and the Gorilla position, according to pwinsider.com.
The loss of power caused WWE to lose all ability to control various aspects of the show and the company decided to stop production while the issue was being worked on rather than continue the live show. As a result, viewers watching on Netflix live did not miss any action.
