Swerve Strickland Reportedly Dealing With A Legitimate Injury

According to Fightful Select, top AEW star and former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland is currently dealing with a legitimate injury. The report noted that the Jacksonville Jaguars medical team is assisting Strickland with his recovery, and there is a possibility that the injury may require surgery and some time off from television. Although there was some backstage discussion about Strickland potentially taking time off from the company after All In: Texas, that ultimately did not occur.

The injury angle presented last week on AEW Dynamite, in which Strickland was evaluated by AEW doctors for a knee injury, is reportedly based on a real-life situation. Strickland is currently working with a torn meniscus, an injury he originally sustained while training at the WWE Performance Center back in 2019. At that time, he rested the injury for four weeks before returning to television.

Strickland is scheduled to challenge AEW Unified Champion "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada for his title at this weekend's AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view. The event is set to take place on Sunday, August 24th, at the O2 Arena in London, England.
