TKO Exec Addresses Saudi Arabia Relationship With Vince McMahon Gone

-- WWE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed a historic agreement back in 2018 that will see WWE hold two events annually for a decade, reportedly being paid $50 million per event. More recently, it was noted that the two sides are looking to work out and announced an "enhanced" agreement that would take things to the next level by possibly bringing a major PLE such as Royal Rumble or WrestleMania to the country.

-- However, on the flip side some wondered if the WWE-Saudi relationship would remain strong in the absence of Vince McMahon, who was primarily responsible for orchestrating the original deal and is now not associated with WWE in any way. TKO's Mark Shapiro commented on this, pointing out that WWE President Nick Khan has maintained a strong relationship without Vince while also acknowledging the possibility of holding more WWE events in Saudi Arabia:

"What I would say there is, let’s remember, we have a strong and healthy relationship with the Kingdom through WWE and doing two annual events a year. And I’ll just remind folks - those deals were primarily and highly tied to Vince McMahon. And there was a lot of speculation with Vince being gone, ‘Would that impact the relationship in a negative way? Would they be looking to get out of it?’ And I would say proudly that Nick Khan, in particular, has developed and sustained, cultivated, nurtured a very, very strong relationship in a handoff from Vince."

"They have a lot of trust in each other. They have a lot of faith. We’ve been delivering on those events. Potentially we could look to do more events, but nothing is planned beyond those two events at this time. And we will continue to look at eventizing or festivalizing those WWE events more than we already do."
