Top Indie Star Announced For Maria Kanellis' Women’s Wrestling Army Debut Event On May 1st

As previously reported, former WWE and ROH Star Maria Kanellis, who is currently working in IMPACT as part of the Honor No More faction, took to her Twitter several days ago and announced the launch of a brand-new all-women's wrestling promotion called “Women’s Wrestling Army.”

The official Instagram account of “Women’s Wrestling Army” then announced that their first-ever event will take place on Sunday, May 1st at the Fete Music Hall in Providence, Rhode Island, with the event to be taped and aired at a later date.

Maria Kanellis recently appeared on the PWPonderings podcast, where she talked about how the idea all started by the fact that a number of women wrestlers approached her and Bobby Cruise at the time that she was still with ROH and how she didn't want to run a women's wrestling promotion at first, but she saw that there isn't a whole lot of opportunity for that and so they had to create something.

Maria Kanellis said:

“It was all sparked by the fact that all of the women were coming up to Bobby and myself and saying, ‘You guys should start something.'” “And honestly, I didn’t want to run a wrestling company. I loved my job at Ring of Honor. I loved being able to go in and focus on the women and just worry about them, be talent relations, and focus on producing and booking.”

“But you look around and there’s not a whole lot of opportunity for that. And so, we had to create something. And I wanted to create something very – very wrestler-friendly.”

Maria Kanellis also talked about how Women’s Wrestling Army will be partnering with Women’s Wrestling Revolution Plus (WWR+) and Beyond Wrestling for their first-ever show.

Maria Kanellis said:

“There’s a vibe that this thing has to have.” “And I hope we’re able to capture it. But (Beyond Wrestling founder) Drew (Cordeiro) had the right vibe with WWR+ and has the right vibe with Beyond Wrestling. And they’re our partner through all of this.

“They’ve been tremendous so far. Will they be our partners moving forward? I don’t know. We gotta see how this first one goes. But I think that what Drew does is great and what he’s done for women’s wrestling is awesome.”

The official Twitter account of “Women’s Wrestling Army” recently announced that top Indie Star Trish Adora is set to appear at their first-ever show.
