As previously reported, top NJPW star Drilla Moloney's contract with the company was set to expire soon, and he had expressed interest in exploring options outside of NJPW. However, that speculation has been laid to rest, as he announced at The New Beginning in Osaka that he would be staying with the company and had signed a new deal.
According to Fightful Select, Moloney received interest from American wrestling promotions but ultimately declined their offers to re-sign with NJPW. The report indicated that the deal was finalized within the last week and is described by sources as very favorable for the member of the Unbound Co. stable. It is said to be a one-year contract, which will keep Moloney with NJPW until early February 2027.
Recently, Moloney teamed with his War Dragons partner, Shingo Takagi, to defeat The United Empire's Great-O-Khan and HENARE during Wednesday morning's event. While Moloney is staying with NJPW, David Finlay and Hiromu Takahashi worked their final matches at the same show, with reports suggesting that Finlay has interest in WWE.
Moloney is a two-time former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion, having held the titles with Clark Connors, who has appeared on AEW television recently and is expected to sign with AEW.
