Top TKO Executive Says WWE Elimination Chamber Viewership Saw Major Growth

During a presentation at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, TKO Group Holdings President Mark Shapiro addressed several topics. Notably, he highlighted early data indicating significant audience growth for WWE's premium live events under the new distribution model with ESPN. Shapiro pointed out that viewership for the Elimination Chamber premium live event saw an increase compared to September's WrestlePalooza, which marked the beginning of the current partnership with ESPN.

The Elimination Chamber event was streamed in the United States on the ESPN App, available through the ESPN Unlimited tier. This streaming arrangement is part of a five-year agreement that designates ESPN as the exclusive home for WWE's main roster premium live events. Although ESPN has not publicly released specific viewership numbers, Shapiro described the early figures as encouraging. He also mentioned that WWE President Nick Khan was sharing hourly updates during the event last weekend.

This is what Mark Shapiro said, “We saw a significant increase in audience from the first event, which was WrestlePalooza. They’re already making strides. Are they where Netflix was and where Peacock was? Not yet, but I’m super encouraged by the numbers Nick Khan was sending me by the hour this past weekend.”

Shapiro recognized that the new distribution model presents transitional challenges. He noted that the $29.99 price for ESPN Unlimited could be “prohibitive” for some fans. He also pointed out the limited availability of the service through major streaming distributors like YouTube TV and Dish.

On the international front, WWE premium live events continue to stream on Netflix, establishing a dual-platform distribution structure. In the U.S., ESPN Unlimited now serves as the cornerstone of WWE’s streaming strategy.
