Trish Stratus Talks About Becky Lynch Match Not Being Used At SummerSlam, First-Ever Cage Match

When Trish Stratus steps into the ring inside the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, PA. at WWE Payback 2023 this weekend, it will be the first time she has competed in a Steel Cage match.

The WWE Hall of Famer spoke with the New York Post this week about it being a first in her long, legendary career.

"There were a lot of elements I didn’t have back in the day," Stratus said. "The obvious things are the opportunities to be in a cage match or a ladder match or go to Saudi Arabia."

She continued, "There are obvious things like whoo, bucket list, let’s do this. Only because of what they signify knowing we laid this founding establishing that the women are a viable part of this product [during my era]. However, we still didn’t get the cage matches. We still did get the ladder matches."

Also during the interview, the Canadian women's wrestling icon spoke about how her match with Becky Lynch wasn't used on the WWE SummerSlam 2023 show at Ford Field in Detroit, MI. in front of 51,000+ fans.

"At the end of the day, as long as we deliver, as long as we leave the fans entertained, satisfied, Stratus-fied that’s what my goal is to come here and do the things we never got to do, show them something they’ve never [seen] before," she said.
