Undertaker Reveals When He Knew His WWE In-Ring Career Was Over

When did "The Dead Man" knows his WWE in-ring career was over?

While promoting his "1 deadMAN" shows in the U.K. during WWE Money In The Bank Weekend, The Undertaker revealed when he knew his in-ring career was over in WWE.

He revealed to Metro.co.uk that while filming the Boneyard match for WrestleMania, he realized he couldn’t wrestle any longer after years of deliberation.

“In my heart, I wasn’t ready to do it but in my mind I knew I had to," he said. "It’s been a difficult transition because if I physically could, I would still be going. But I can’t put on a match the way people expect to see The Undertaker wrestle. There’s no sense in tarnishing the legacy, or cashing in on the equity that I built up. My back is completely locked up, I’ve got pain shooting down my legs. That’s when I knew I was done."

He admitted that it isn’t something he’s “really talked about a lot.”

“It was physical, we did some really big stunts," he said. "But I shouldn’t have felt the way that I did. It was just that moment of clarity."
