-- There have been conflicting reports over the past month about WWE's hiring situation with fightfulselect.com first reporting that there was a hiring freeze and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter refuting that suggesting that there is no freeze at all. In the latest, fightful notes that it was reiterated to them that there is effectively a freeze in place since the beginning in of 2023 though it's possible that term has never officially been used.
-- Nick Aldis of IMPACT Wrestling recently was told by WWE that they had interest in his services but with the recent corporate moves that began in late 2022 and into 2023, that the company wasn't making any main roster hires. Others who have been contacted but were never offered contracts include: EJ Nduka, Switchblade Jay White and Hikuleo and Tama Tonga with Triple H reportedly sharing internally that he did not want those talks to be leaked out to the media. WWE officials have maintained that they are still "talking" to talent and hope to be hiring again sooner rather than later and in the past William Regal and Bruce Prichard had both been reaching out to talent. The report goes onto state that apart from Jay White, who WWE really wanted to bring on before he signed with AEW, they were also unsuccessful in bringing back Naomi.
-- On the subject of whether there truly is a hiring freeze or not, one WWE official pointed out that the company had over 20 main roster signings last year between August and December but none so far in 2023. One big reason for the "freeze" would likely have been WWE ongoing talks of selling/merging the company.
