WWE Backlash 2016 resulted in the Inaugural WWE SmackDown Women's Champion to be crowned following a Six-Pack Challenge that took place during the pay-per-view event!
The SmackDown Women's Championship has brought about many female WWE Superstars, but it all began with Becky Lynch. Lynch won the title at WWE Backlash which took place in Richmond, VA on September 11, 2016. During which a Women's Six-Pack Challenge match with Becky Lynch vs. Carmella vs. Naomi vs. Natalya vs. Nikki Bella vs. Alexa Bliss where Becky Lynch ultimately took the gold!
Today, the current WWE SmackDown Women's Champion is Sasha Banks who is in her first reign. Banks is set to defeat that title against the Women's Royal Rumble 2021 Champion, Bianca Belair on the grandest stage of them all, at WWE WrestleMania 2021. Sasha Banks defeated the previous reigning champion, Bayley at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view in a Hell in a Cell match on October 25, 2020 in Orlando, Florida.

Bayley holds the record of the longest combined days at 520 days as Women's Champion in modern WWE history over both title reigns, surpassing Charlotte Flair. Bayley's combined days have now touched 948 days over six WWE Championship reigns. Bayley's second reign is the longest singular reign at 380 days, while Flair's fourth reign is the shortest at 4 minutes and 55 seconds.
