NJPW recently announced that Will Ospreay and Tatsumi Fujinami have both tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be able to compete at their 2022 Wrestling Dontaku Event this Sunday, May 1st and due to Ospreay and Fujinami not being able to compete, we will see Tomohiro Ishii face Hiroshi Tanahashi for the vacant IWGP United States Heavyweight Title in the co-main event. This match was made after Ishii defeated Minoru Suzuki at NJPW Windy City Riot on April 16th and is also set to battle Eddie Kingston in Washington, D.C. on May 14th.
We will also see Shingo Takagi and BUSHI team up with a mystery opponent, who is set to be Fujinami's replacement and they will open the Dontaku card.
