WWE recently announced that, for the first-time-ever, the company has formed a television partnership with Virgin Media Television, a television company in Ireland, to broadcast highlights of WWE RAW and WWE SmackDown on free-to-air TV.
Virgin Media Two, which is a television channel part of the Virgin Media Television group, will air a one-hour version of RAW on Sundays at 10:30AM, beginning on March 27th. They will also air a one-hour version of SmackDown on Saturdays at 10:30AM.
Andy Warkman, WWE’s Vice President and General Manager of Europe and Sub Saharan Africa, mentioned in a press release that they're excited to bring their flagship programming to free-to-air television in Ireland for the first time ever with Virgin Media Television.
Andy Warkman said in a press release, “We are excited to bring our flagship programming to free-to-air television for the first time in Ireland with Virgin Media Television.” “This new partnership is a momentous step for the WWE brand and is terrific news for our passionate fanbase in Ireland.”
It was also mentioned as a part of their agreement that WWE documentaries will also be available for viewing on Virgin Media Television, including the WWE 24 specials on Becky Lynch and WWE NXT Champion Finn Balor, so that fans can take a closer look at WWE’s Irish-born Superstars.
Mick McCaffrey, who is Virgin Media’s Head of News and Sport, said that they are absolutely delighted to be bringing WWE to Irish free TV each Saturday and Sunday on Virgin Media Two. He also said WWE is such an iconic brand in Ireland and the fact that Irish WWE Stars like NXT Champion Finn Balor, Becky Lynch and Sheamus have been featured so prominently on RAW and Smackdown over the last few years just adds to the excitement. Updates will be provided as it becomes available.
