It was announced by Talking Smack Host Kayla Braxton during the show's most recent episode that Big E suffered a brachial plexus injury that resulted in temporary arm weakness after the viscous attack by Apollo Crews on last Friday night’s episode of SmackDown. WWE would then issue a statement on the WWE Intercontinental Champion's storyline injury.
Apollo Crews battled Shinsuke Nakamura in a one-on-one match with WWE Intercontinental Champion Big E watching the match at ringside. Unfortunately for Apollo, he came out of the match with a loss. After the match, Apollo Crews attacked Shinsuke Nakamura, which brought Big E over to calm things down. Out on the floor, an enraged and infuriated Apollo Crews threw the steel steps into Big E’s back. He then took the steps into the ring and then dropped them over the top rope and down on Big E.
