WWE Announces Undisputed WWE Universal Title Match For Next Week's Episode Of Friday Night SmackDown

The main event of last night's episode of WWE SmackDown saw Riddle defeat Sami Zayn in Singles action to earn a shot at the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns for next week's episode. Per the stipulation of the main event, Riddle would have been banned from WWE SmackDown if Sami Zayn came out of the match with the win, but since Riddle won the match, he will now challenge Roman Reigns on next week’s episode of WWE SmackDown for The Tribal Chief's Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

After the match, Riddle taunted Paul Heyman from the ring until Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos (Jey and Jimmy Uso) attacked Riddle from behind. The Usos laid waste to Riddle, but he beat them up with a kendo stick. SmackDown then went off the air with Riddle yelling a warning into the camera, telling Roman Reigns that he is coming for the title.

This will be the first title defense of Roman Reigns since he beat Brock Lesnar on Night Two of WWE's WrestleMania 38 Premium Live Event on April 3rd to unify the WWE and WWE Universal Championships. The Original Bro has been feuding with The Bloodline since they injured Randy Orton on the May 21 episode of WWE SmackDown. Riddle has since been teaming with Shinsuke Nakamura after Nakamura's partner would be taken out as well by The Bloodline, but they would come up short in their attempt to beat The Usos and capture the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Titles. Riddle would then call Reigns out on last week’s show and what would lead to the match between himself and Sami Zayn, which he won.
