WWE The Bump Full Recap: (4/14/21)

It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time for a recap of the WWE YouTube show, The Bump! Today’s show is full of guests, including Rhea Ripley, R-Truth, Bronson Reed, and Bubba Ray Dudley. Now that we’re all caught up on what’s going down, let’s take a look at The Bump!

⁃ Kayla kicks off the show by telling viewers “we’re gonna have a good time”, and runs down the list of guests that’ll be on today.
⁃ The rest of The Bump crew joins the show, and they all share their thoughts on the latest WWE happenings, until Kayla brings on Rhea Ripley.

Rhea Ripley

The new Raw Women’s Championship joins the show, and the hosts welcome her back. Kayla kicks off the interview by asking if everything has settled in yet, and Rhea tells her “it’s slowly setting in. It was such a special moment”. Kayla follows up by asking about the moment on NXT last night, and calls NXT “the groomer of Champions”. Rhea explains how it was to be in NXT with the others, says NXT “helped us to become superstars”. Matt joins the conversation, and he wants to know how facing off against Asuka was for Rhea. Rhea tells him “I was ready for Asuka. Going into the match I was really excited. I pulled through and became the Raw Women’s Champion”. Evan chimes in, and he wonders how important it was to establish dominance early in the match. Rhea explains the situation, and states “I took her off her game”. Ryan asks his first question, and shows the image of Rhea crying on the Wrestlemania stage. Ripley responds, and says “that moment meant so much. It really took me back a step to see all of the fans. I just thought wow there’s so many people here”. Matt hops back in, and asks how much being at Wrestlemania last year help her this year. Rhea covers last year, and says “that was scary. It was such a big deal for me. I’ll hold on to the memory forever. This year I was more ready”. Evan brings up Charlotte Flair attacking Ripley and Asuka, and Rhea explains “Charlotte is protecting her own insecurities. If Charlotte wants to run her mouth, and wants another match, I’m ready”. Evan follows up by asking about all of the Australian wrestlers in WWE, and Rhea tells him “we are finally getting a chance to show what we can do. We all have each other’s backs, and I love my Aussie’s”. Matt brings up potential challengers to Rhea, and she tells him “whoever wants to step forward, I’m ready to put them down”. Kayla brings the interview to a close, and the segment comes to an end.

⁃ After the Raw Women’s Champion moves on, Ryan heads over to the big board to see what the WWE Universe is buzzing about.
⁃ Once Ryan is finished, Kayla brings on the next guest, R-Truth.

R-Truth

The 24/7 Champion joins The Bump crew, and Ryan begins the discussion by showing Truth a video clip. The clip is some sort of Old Spice ad, and Truth says “my arms smell like the ridiculously long lasting scent of Old Spice. This some good stuff dawg”. Truth talks about all of the things he can do with fresh pits, and Kayla switches gears by asking what Truth thought about WrestleMania. Truth explains his experience, and says “we back at it. Story’s got told, dreams got made, and to have the fans back was the main part of our recipe”. Matt joins the conversation, and asks Truth about possibly teaming with Riddle. Truth responds, and tells the crew “y’all started something man. Y’all know I can still go”. Ryan rejoins the discussion, and calls Truth “the greatest 24/7 Champion”. Ryan continues, and says 20 years Truth won the Hardcore Championship, before wondering if that could have helped him today. Truth simply says “hell nah. This is a whole different thing here dawg”. Kayla thanks Truth for stopping by, and says “there’s no one like R-Truth. He is a national treasure”.

⁃ When the segment comes to a close, the crew continues to talk about Wrestlemania weekend.
⁃ The hosts also cover everything that went down on Tuesday night’s episode of NXT, and Ryan heads back to the big board again.
⁃ Once Ryan finishes talking, Matt congratulates Kushida, until Kayla introduces the next guest.

Bronson Reed

Kayla kicks off the conversation by talking about the gauntlet eliminator match, and Bronson talks about winning the match. Reed says “I’m happy with how it all went”, and Ryan asks what Bronson took away from the match with Gargano. Bronson tells him “it proved I can go in the deep water. I’m still on the quest for gold”. Matt chimes in, and he asks about last nights 8 person tag team match. Bronson got the victory in the match, and Matt says “it looks likes you got back on track”. Bronson says “Tuesday’s are my night”, and Evan wants Reed’s thoughts on LA Knight. Bronson sends a message to Knight, and tells him “come to 2021, and I’ll show you how it’s all done”. Matt asks the Aussie about his fellow Australian WWE Superstars, and Bronson explains “When I started here there wasn’t much Australian representation, and now there are so many. We just keep pushing each other”. The crew thanks Bronson for the interview, and they move on to the next segment.

⁃ Kayla makes a quick Peacock plug, before welcoming on the final guest, Bubba Ray Dudley

Bubba Ray Dudley

Bubba joins the show, and he has a picture of his head on a stick... Kayla wants to know how everything is going, and Bubba tells her he’s been “busy, busy, busy”. Ryan asks about the 20 year anniversary of the Wrestlemania 17 TLC match, and Dudley tells him “we were hell bent on topping what we had done before. We wanted to steal the show, and fans still talk about it to this day. We accomplished what we set out to do”. Matt covers all of the new Champions crowned in NXT last week, and Bubba tells him “I love this fresh coat of paint. I love NXT so much because of the vibe”. Kayla shifts gears from talking about NXT, and she wants to play a game called “Bubba’s Takes”. Kayla begins by asking where Edge goes from here, and Bubba says “he continues to chase the Championship. He will pick himself up, and continue to chase Roman”. Matt chimes in, and he wonders when Bubba thinks Roman will be dethroned. Dudley tells him “the only man that can stop Roman dead in his tracks, if it isn’t Edge, is Brock Lesnar. Give me the beast vs Roman all day”. Ryan asks about Bad Bunny, and shows Bully the nice comments Randy Orton had for the Latin pop star on Sunday’s episode of The Bump. Bubba responds, and tells the crew “I agree with what Randy said. Two thumbs up. If you really listen to Randy’s tone, you don’t get that from him often. That’s the stamp of approval right there. Bad Bunny is the bar for anyone else who comes in”. Kayla asks what Bubba thought about Bianca Belair winning, and Dudley loses his video connection, which is to bad...

...But wait, he kicked out for a nearfall! Bubba compares the moment where Sasha and Bianca cried to Andre and Hogan facing off, before adding “that moment will stand out to me forever”. Matt wonders which Champion stands out to Bully, and he says “no one has worked harder than Sheamus. I love that he’s not afraid to lay it all in. His name pops into my head immediately”. Ryan wants to know which match stood out to Bubba over the week, and he says WALTER vs Ciampa. Kayla thanks Bubba for stopping by, and the final interview segment comes to a close.

⁃ When the interviews wrap up, the crew shares a few more quick notes, and they all wish a Happy Birthday to a producer named Joe.
⁃ The Crew hypes NXT UK, which goes down Thursday, and the show fades to black.

That’s all for this weeks episode of The Bump! Thanks for stopping by the recap, and have a great rest of your day everyone.
