WWE The Bump Full Recap: (5/26/21)

It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time for a recap of the WWE YouTube show, The Bump! Today’s edition of the show is full of guests, including Rey & Dominik Mysterio, as well as Shinsuke Nakamura. Now that we’re all caught up on what’s going down, let’s take a look at The Bump!

WWE The Bump

⁃ Matt kicks off today’s show by telling viewers “we’re gonna have a good time”, and he runs down the list of guests that’ll be on the show today.
⁃ The rest of The Bump crew joins the show, and they all share their thoughts on the latest WWE happenings, until Matt brings on the first guest.

Shinsuke Nakamura

“The King of Strong Style” joins the show via zoom, and Matt asks him how everything is going as of late. Shinsuke says “the king is back,” and he talks about all of the past “kings” in WWE, like “King Corbin, King Booker, or The King of Kings”, and he explains to everyone “I want to prove why I am the best king.” Evan asks if Shinsuke sleeps with the crown from time to time, and Nakamura jokingly states “yeah, sometimes!” Evan follows up by asking Shinsuke about his recent collaboration with Rick Boogs, and Nakamura tells the crew “I actually met him for the first time last week. What a guitar player!” Matt wonders what kind of energy an entrance like that gives Nakamura, and he tells the hosts “I like to feel the energy of the audience, that’s why I wrestle.” Ryan joins the conversation, and shows Shinsuke an old clip of himself surfing in Malibu. Nakamura offers up a few comments on the clip, and he tells the bump crew “surfing is not only my hobby, it is my training, and meditation.” Shinsuke goes on to say “wrestling is my first priority, but surfing is my hobby. It helps me relax.” Matt jumps back in, and he wraps up the interview. Shinsuke thanks Matt for wearing a “King of Strong Style” t-shirt, and he exits the show with a laugh.

⁃ After the interview, RJ City checks in with the Wednesday Morning Wakeup.
⁃ Once RJ wraps up, The Bump crew plugs this Sunday’s Broken Skull Sessions, featuring The Godfather.
⁃ When a quick clip of the interview comes to a close, “tik tok sensation” Nick Harrison briefly joins the show, and talks about being a wrestling fan.
⁃ Nick leaves, and Ryan heads to the “big board,” where he talks about the WWE’s upcoming return to touring.
⁃ When Ryan returns, the hosts cover a few “Top Rope Topics,” until more guests make an appearance.

Rey & Dominik Mysterio

The reigning Smackdown Tag Team Champions join the show, and Matt kicks things off by asking Rey if he has taken in the moment yet. Rey tells him “absorbing everything that has happened so far, my sons dedication to this sport... wow.” Ryan joins the fun, and he wonders how Dominik feels, after winning his first title. Dominik says “to have my dad as my partner, and join the list of champions, it’s just crazy.” Matt reminds Rey that he had to fight by himself for most of the match at Backlash, and notes that Rey pretty much won the titles by himself, thanks to a prematch attack from the Dirty Dawgs. Rey tells the hosts “I never thought I would give up, and when I saw Dominik come out I went ‘ok we’re gonna leave as tag team champions’.” Evan asks Dominik if he ever thought about staying in the back, and Dominik says “I couldn’t leave pops alone. I went out there, and we did what we had to do.” Matt hops back in, and he shows Dom and Rey a clip of their family watching them win the titles. Rey responds and he says “that’s incredible. We are truly blessed as a family.” Rey runs down a list of moments when his family was there for him, and he adds “it’s such a special moment to be able to say that my name will be put in the history books, but now my family will be in there as well.” Dominik explains how seeing the clip makes him feel, and he tells the hosts “it’s such a blessing to have their support from the very beginning. This is a family affair, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.” Ryan tosses things back over to Rey, and he wants to know how gratifying it is to see fans support Dominik, after they have supported Rey so much. Rey explains “it’s almost been overwhelming. It feels beautiful to be respected, so to be acknowledged as history makers... it’s unbelievable.” Matt comes behind that by asking about Dominik’s victory over Bobby Roode, and he wants to know if Dominik thinks the Dirty Dawgs will go away now. Dom tells him “it’s not to safe to say that. They aren’t in our rear view mirrors yet.” Evan then shows the Mysterio’s a few backhanded comments Seth Rollins had for them, where he states that he’s responsible for Dom being in the ring. Dominik says “he’s not wrong... I have to give credit where credit is due.” Rey corrects him, and says “I’m responsible for getting him in the ring!” Evan wonders if there are any challenges they face as a team, and Rey says “it’s cool for me to play the role of teaching my son how to run the ropes. I like to compliment him, as well as point the finger at him. I’m his biggest critic.” Dominik chimes in, and he’s says “Rey is stubborn. We don’t bump heads, but it’s hard for him to get it sometimes, and eventually we can work it out.” Matt thanks the champ’s for stopping by, and the final interview segment of the day comes to a close.

⁃ When they leave, Matt announces that next week is “Tag Team Week” on The Bump.
⁃ Ryan heads back to the big board one last time, and the hosts do a quick “Ask The Bump” segment, until the show comes to a close.

That’s all for this weeks episode of The Bump! Thanks for stopping by the recap, and have a great rest of your day everyone.
