WWE The Bump Recap: Booker T, Chad Gable, Rey Mysterio, Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode, And More Stop By

Hello again everyone, and welcome back to my recap of the WWE social media show, The Bump! Today’s guest on the show are Chad Gable, Booker T, Rey Mysterio, and the Smackdown Tag Team Champions, Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler. The show is hosted by Kayla Braxton, along with her co-hosts, Matt Camp, and Evan T. Mack. Now that we’re all caught up on who is talking today, let’s take a look at The Bump.

Kayla welcomes us to the show, and tells us we’re 11 days away from the Royal Rumble. Camp and Mack join the show, and Kayla tells us Ryan is off this week. After a replay of the Wrestlemania announcement from this past weekend, Kayla asks for Ryan and Evans thoughts. Matt is excited about Wrestlemania having 2 nights this year, and Evan can’t wait to go back to Dallas next year. Kayla asks Evan about Friday night Smackdown, and he’s “disappointed” Roman Reigns won’t be facing off against Adam Pearce. Kayla tells Evan she’s “happy” Kevin Owens is facing Roman, and Matt talks about Mercedes Martinez and Toni Storm taking on Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro, tonight on NXT. Kayla then brings on the first guests, the Smackdown Tag Team Champions, Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode.

Kayla kicks off the interview by asking them how it feels to be the champs, and Roode says “it feels glorious”. Roode talks about setting a goal, and accomplishing it, before taking a dig at the Street Profits for being “gifted” the tag team titles. Roode continues, and claims them holding the titles is “well overdue”. Dolph responds to comments the Street Profits made last week, and he thinks they are “not that great”. Dolph tells us that some people show up and are handed the world titles, and others earn it. Dolph continues, and says “we deliver, we do what we do best”. Roode rejoins the conversation, and tells us he “wishes the Street Profits well”. He tells Kayla “this is a business about making money”, and thinks the Street Profits are “great” but now they are “the team to beat”. Kayla asks if they’ve gotten the respect the deserve, and Dolph talks about his bank account. Dolph tells us he “wants to get better every day”. Matt asks Roode about being a 3 time tag team champion with multiple partners, and Roode tells him “I’ve had great partners, but I can also hold my own”. Roode continues, and tells he and Ziggler are “cohesive”, and they will be “better than any team I’ve been a part of”. Roode finishes off the subject by saying they will “do what they do best”, and beat the Street Profits in an upcoming match. Kayla wonders how they approach tag team matches, as compared to singles matches, and Ziggler talks about teaming with Drew McIntyre. He moves onto talking about Roode, and how they have to “make their own points”. Matt asks Roode about past battles with Dolph, and Roode tells him “I was always a fan of Dolph”. Roode goes on to say that he “knew then” that he and Dolph should be a tag team. Kayla asks the pair about their favorite Rumble moments, and Dolph talks about facing edge at the 2011 rumble. Roode shares his two cents on the rumble, and talks about entering his first rumble match last year, and he “is looking forward to what’s ahead”. Kayla takes Dolph back to the 2009 Rumble match, and he talks about getting tossed out by Kane, seconds after entering the ring. Matt asks Roode about showing up at NXT Takeover: Dallas, and Roode talks about the way he was received by the WWE Universe. Roode tells him the “confidence” he gained in other places carries over to NXT without any problems. Kayla thanks them both for joining, and brings Evan back in.

After taking a look at the updated Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic bracket, and sharing a few thoughts on the tournament, we take a look at Evan and Matt’s predictions. Evan is picking the Grizzled Young Veterans to win it all, and Matt chose Ever-rise. The hosts then breakdown a few tournament matches that are taking place on tonight’s NXT, and this Friday’s episode of 205 Live. Kayla thanks them for their opinions, and brings in the next guest, Booker T.

Booker T

The 5 time WCW champion joins the show, and talks about a doing chores around the house. Evan asks about the collaboration Booker recently did with artist Bad Bunny, and Booker tells him “you have to know how to stay relevant in this lifetime”, and he “appreciates” Bunny. Booker talks about shooting a music video for the show, and he shares a few opinions on what went down on the set, calling it “an experience”. Matt asks Booker about shooting hungry man commercials years ago, and Booker tells him “it was cool, man”. Booker continues and tells Matt that when he looks back on it he thinks “wow, I did that”. Evan wants to know what Bookers favorite Rumble moment is, and he talk about making his return to wwe at the 2011 Royal Rumble, calling it “such a real moment”. Booker continues, and tells the hosts “the pop was so loud, I thought The Rock was behind me”. Evan asks Booker about the 2012 Rumble, and how it was for him, Michael Cole, and Jerry Lawler to be in the match. Booker tells him “I should have got two checks that night”. Matt asks about the final night of WCW, and when Booker knew he would be coming to WWE. Booker tells him he “could see the writing on the wall” with WCW, and the night is “seared in my brain”. Booker continues, and says that he wanted to “put himself in the middle of the best talent out there” when he decided to come to WWE, and he shares a few thoughts on his first meeting with Vince McMahon, and a few agents. Kayla talks about Bookers first interactions with The Rock, and Booker tells her “he was crazy”. Booker talks about Rocky being “respectful” and they performed together “at the highest level”. Booker speculates that he gave The Rock a little “to much respect”, and how he didn’t “feel it” enough. Booker finishes the subject, and says “when you get in the game you got to score”. Kayla then asks Booker about working with Shane McMahon, and Booker tells her “Shane liked me from the beginning, and we just kinda clicked”. Evan wonders what Booker things will go down between Goldberg and McIntyre, and Booker tells him “Goldberg is pushing it”. Booker continues, and says “this is a young mans game”. Booker begins to talk about Drew, calling him “a grown man”, and he’s picking Drew to win the match. Kayla asks about Owens vs Reigns, and Bookers tells her “I’m a Roman Reigns guy”. He adds that Owens has gotten “into better shape”, and call the match “the match to look for”. Kayla thanks Booker for joining, and brings in the next guest, Chad Gable.

Chad Gable

Gable talks about the progress the “Alpha Academy” is making, and they are “going to another level”. Evan wants to know what the alpha academy is, and Gable talks about the fundamentals involved in the Royal Rumble match. Gable tells the hosts “it’s all about powerful hips”. Kayla moves the interview along, and asks about Daniel Bryan’s recent struggles. Gable tells her if you “dwell on struggles” you’re not on the right mindset. Gable tell her those matches are “tune ups” for the Rumble, and “we don’t bring up past losses”. Matt talks about Daniel Bryan possibly being his father, and Gable shrugs, jokingly telling him “it made sense to me”. Gables talks about always having dreams of competing in WWE, and talks about how Bryan “resonated with him” because of Daniels style and look. Gable calls working with Bryan “surreal and interesting”. Kayla asks about a potential Daniel Bryan vs Chad Gable match, and Gable tells her he “wants a championship to be at stake”, and in his head the match would be “epic”. Evan talks about the progression Otis has made, and Gable tells him he’s know Otis “since 2010”. Gables talks about heavyweights, and how “they break easily”, so he is building his confidence back up. Matt talks about the workout program at the Alpha Academy, and Gable tells him Otis “is a great workout partner”. Evan moves into talking about a more “serious note”, and talks about matches Gable had with Jason Jordan as American Alpha. Gables tells him he “feels so fortunate to have met” Jason, and he hopes to have a reunion with Jordan some day. Evan asks Gable about the match he had with Kurt Angle, and Gable talks about meeting Angle as a kid. Gable mentions that it’s “insane” that they wrestled each other, and calls it “an old-school style match”. Matt rejoins the conversation, and wonders about Gables take on Rumble matches. Gable tells him it’s survival of the fittest, and Kayla thanks him for joining the show.

After the segment ends, Kayla tells us Santino Marella and Charlotte Flair will be on the show next week. The hosts then talk about the Women’s Dusty Cup Tournament, and do a rapid fire interview with Catanzaro and Carter. They are both “excited” about being in the tournament, and talk about being “overlooked”. Kayla then brings on the next guest, Rey Mysterio.

Kayla tells us Rey holds the record for longest time spent in the Rumble match, and Rey joins the show. Rey talks about what the Rumble means to him, saying “there’s nothing better” than the Rumble. Matt asks Rey about going into the Rumble match he won 2nd, and tells him “it didn’t hit me until mid-match” and “you have to wing it as you go”. Evan asks about the low rider he drove into the arena that night, and Rey tells him he “did it for Eddie”. Rey continues, and says “the feeling was incredible, you could feel Eddies spirit there”. Matt wants to known about being in there with Triple H for most of the match, and Rey says him facing off against Triple H one on one “is a dream” for him. Kayla wonders how it was for Rey to walk back through the curtain a winner, and he tells her “it took a while to come down from cloud 9”. Evan asks Rey about taking on The Undertaker at Royal Rumble 2010, and Rey exclaims that it “was great” and talks about being “homered to share the ring with him”. Kayla then shows Rey what ‘Taker had to say about the match, and Rey calls the comments “incredible”. Rey talks about accidentally busting ‘Taker open, and how he thought “oh no, he’s gonna kill me”. Matt wonders how it is to take one of The Undertakers “iconic moves”, and Rey calls it “incredible”. Matt then takes Rey back to the 2003 Rumble match, and Rey calls it “a learning experience”. Kayla brings Rey back into more recent times, and wonders about the 2018 Rumble match, where Rey returned to WWE. Rey tells Kayla “it was a special moment”, and he felt “very nervous” before the match. Evan asks Rey about his unique elimination style, where he uses a frankensteiner to eliminate people from the Rumble. Rey tells him “it’s just my style”. Kayla talks about this past weeks episode of Smackdown, and a conversation Rey had with his son Dominik. Kayla wonders who Rey knows that can take care of Corbin, and Rey tells her to “watch the show Friday”, and that something “very very special is coming up”. Kayla thanks Rey for joining the show, and closes out the show with by plugging tonight’s episode of NXT, and the show fades to black.
