A massive announcement was made during last night's WrestleMania 37 Night Two Event that next month's Backlash PPV will now be called WrestleMania Backlash as it will feature the fallout from Saturday as well as last night's WrestleMania 37 Events. The announcement was confirmed during last night's event by Corey Graves and Michael Cole.
During previous Backlash PPVs, WWE did focus on the fallout of that year's WrestleMania PPV, but this is the first time the company will be using “WrestleMania” in the name of the show. This announcement shoots down a previous report of the Money In the Bank PPV taking place on May 16 as that report also stated that Backlash would be taking place on Sunday, June 20th.
WWE announcing that WrestleMania Backlash is set to take place on May 16th could be a sign that Money In the Bank will now be taking place on June 20th. Since the promotion's residence of the Thunderdome at Tropicana Field has officially ended, both WrestleMania Backlash and Money In the Bank will now be taking place from the WWE ThunderDome at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.
