At the conclusion of last night's WWE NXT "New Year's Evil" episode, it was strongly suggested that reigning NXT Champion Oba Femi was vacating the title after leaving the belt in the ring after a successful title defense against Leon Slater. This mov further supported recent reports that he was headed to one of the Raw or Smackdown brands on the main roster.
Now, WWE has cleared up the situation.
In a social media post earlier today, the company confirmed that the NXT Championship has been vacated though no information was shared on how they plan to crown the next champion.
