WWE Confirms There Will Be No New Video Game This Year; 2K Promises New Announcement

-- As noted in the recap of yesterday's conference call with investors, WWE confirmed that there will be no new video game this year when asked about WWE 2K21. This would mark the first time in 23 years that there won't be new iteration of what has been WWE's annual video game. Soon after the announcement, the official WWE 2K20 account (run by 2K and not WWE) tweeted:

-- A week ago, former WWE video game writer Justin Lepper reported that he heard from sources that there wouldn't be a video game this year but he also noted that the 2K franchise is working on another game not developed by WWE 2K developer Visual Concepts. This could be the message that the WWE 2K20 account is promising for Monday. 2K had previously parted ways with long-time developer, Yuke's, after WWE 2K19 and handed the reigns over to Visual Concepts for WWE 2K20. That game was launched to a disastrous reception.
