As previously reported, ESPN has acquired the rights to broadcast WWE premium live events through a new five-year deal, starting in 2026. These events will be available for streaming on a new ESPN app.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, while this deal will feature a significant amount of new WWE content, it will not include the company’s past events. The report also stated that there was an expectation prior to the announcement of the ESPN deal that WWE would secure an agreement similar to its current contracts with Peacock and Netflix, which include old pay-per-view (PPV) events and NXT shows. However, this is not the case, as the focus will be primarily on the premium live events.
WWE is reportedly planning to seek a second deal for its past content, but there is currently no information on when discussions will begin or which potential partners they are considering for this deal.
