WWE Extreme Rules Notes: Vince McMahon Involved, Asuka/Banks Finish, Main Event

-- PWInsider.com reports that every match last night at the Performance Center on Extreme Rules was live except for the "Eye for an Eye" match which was taped earlier that day (the Swamp Fight didn't take place at the PC and was also taped earlier in the week). Vince McMahon was said to have been heavily involved, personally overseeing every aspect of the match right down to selecting which weapons Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio were to use.

-- There was debate internally on which match which would serve as the main event and close out the PPV, with the two options being the Wyatt Swamp Fight between Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman or the WWE Title match with Drew McIntyre defending against Dolph Ziggler.

-- The original finish of the Sasha Banks vs. Asuka match was for Asuka to win cleanly by making Banks submit to the Asuka Lock. As reported already, the finish was changed very late to cause a controversial ending which the hope was will lead to more viewers tuning into Raw tonight.

-- Apollo Crews was not even backstage at Extreme Rules last night which leads further credence that his absence was COVID-19 related. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer strongly hinted, but never flat-out stated, that Crews had tested positive for the virus.
