This past March 22nd, WWE filed to trademark the "WCW" company name with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (the USPTO) under the category of general merchandise use.
Ever since WWE Chairman Vince McMahon bought WCW back in March 2001, WWE has been able to use several things related to WCW such as trademarks, rings, PPV names and the tape library. The company has even used a number of PPV names for their WWE NXT brand that WCW used back in the day, including the Great American Bash, WarGames and Halloween Havoc.
It was revealed on March 26th, 2001, which was 20 years ago, that WWE CEO Vince McMahon purchased the WCW and that day was the final show of WCW Monday Night Nitro.
