WWE Friday Night SmackDown Quick Recap for September 24, 2021

Matches Tonight: Four
  • Intercontinental Championship Match: King Nakamura(c) w/ Rick Boogs vs Apollo Crews w/ Cmdr. Azeez. An okay match that saw Nakamura retain. Worth seeing for Pat McAfee's fanboying out if nothing else. 8:21-8:29pm EST.
  • Singles Match: Liv Morgan vs Zelina Vega. Vega picked up the win after Carmella distracted Morgan. 8:51-8:53pm EST.
  • Singles Match: WWE Women's Tag Champions Super Brutality's Nikki A.S.H. vs Natalya w/ Tamina. Nikki picked up the win with a quick roll-up. 9:12-9:13pm EST.
  • Non-Title Main Event Match: Universal Champion Roman Reigns w/ Paul Heyman vs Montez Ford. Great match. At one point, the announce table fell apart when Ford barely touched it--and Pat McAfee took credit, blaming it on his "fat ass dancing" on the desk to Nakamura's entrance and exit. As expected, our Tribal Chief won after tapping Ford with the guillotine. After the match, Heyman counseled Reigns to show Ford and the Demon and even Brock Lesnar what happens when Roman Reigns takes it to the (the crowd chants "moon") extreme. Roman uses Ford to send that message. 9:38-9:54pm EST.

Rough estimate of time spent wrestling: 27 minutes.

Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments of Note:
  • The Man Opened the Show: Belair & Lynch exchanged words, building up to this Sunday's title fight. It broke down into physical altercation that saw Belair lay out Lynch with a KOD. 8:01-8:14pm EST.
  • Happy Talk, with Happy Corbin: Corbin used the show to draw out Kevin Owens, who was immediately ambushed by Riddick Moss. Te two worked together to take out Owens. 8:54-9:04pm EST.
  • Debuts, Repackages, Etc: Toni Storm rocked backstage with Nakamura & Boogs--take that for what you will. Riddick Moss is now working with Happy Corbin. The Draft starts next week. Edge will return to SmackDown next week.
  • Just Say 'No': Naomi came out, expecting a match. WWE Official Sonya Deville refused and when the crowd got behind Naomi, Deville had her mic cut and had security escort Naomi to the back.
  • The Draft: The draft starts on SmackDown next week, and finishes on the following Raw.
  • Seeing Red: After Reigns tapped out Ford, the Bloodlines used multiple weapons to beat down Ford until the Demon arrived. We ended our show with the Demon standing over a defeated Bloodline and a Universal Champion laid out on the floor.
