WWE FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN RESULTS (3/26/2021)

This week's WWE on FOX program kicks off with a recap video of action that took place at this past Sunday night's WWE Fastlane 2021 pay-per-view between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan in the Universal Title match, including Edge's shocking involvement at the end of the bout.

We see a shot of the WrestleMania sign hanging in the rafters as we hear Michael Cole inform us that "The Show of Shows" is just two weeks away.

From there, the camera pans around the ThunderDome inside of Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL., as Cole welcomes us to the show.

Daniel Bryan Kicks Off This Week's Show With A Unique Idea

Daniel Bryan's theme hits and the former five-time champion, holding a steel chair, makes his way down to the ring as fans fill the ThunderDome with "Yes!" chants.

His music fades down, the "Yes!" chants do too. He begins talking, noting that everyone saw the truth and the reality of something Roman claimed would never happen. He says everyone saw Roman tap out.

The fans cheer. He brings up Roman's vow to never tap to someone like Bryan, claiming he would die first. Bryan says good news, Roman is still alive and he tapped out. He says in a perfect world normally that would mean he would be standing in the ring as the World Champion knowing he was heading to the main event of WrestleMania.

Bryan says neither of those things are true because as he was making Roman Reigns tap out, Edge hit him across the back with a steel chair, just as the one he is holding right now. He says Edge spoke about how Bryan should let fans see the main event dream match between he and Reigns.

He claims he is done stepping aside. He's done with things like this. He wants to earn his shot. He demands a rematch against Roman Reigns tonight. The fans break out in "Yes!" chants as he pauses to soak them in. He says he is not leaving the ring until he gets what he wants. He unfolds the chair he was holding and sits down in it.

We head to a commercial break on that note. When we return from the break, Bryan is still waiting for a response about his rematch, and he makes that point clear one more time before taking his seat and waiting once again.

Finally, Adam Pearce emerges and claims he can not give Bryan his rematch tonight. Bryan questions why it's not possible. He says he can get a replay to show what happened if he missed it. Pearce reminds Bryan that it's irrelvant, because as we all know, a referee's decision is final. He says the next Universal Championship match is Edge vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37.

Bryan says how about Edge vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania for the Universal Title, and he immediately faces the winner afterwards for the championship. Pearce says it's not fair to ask anyone to wrestle twice. Bryan says it's fair to ask him to compete in an Elimination Chamber and then more after that in the same night. Bryan says WrestleMania is two nights.

He proposes night one -- Edge vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Title and night two, the winner of that match faces him for the title. He calls that reasonable. The fans chant "Yes!" as they appear to agree as well. Peace seems to be contemplating this.

Before he can say anything, however, Edge's music hits and "The Rated-R Superstar" emerges, slapping Pearce's mic down and storming down to the ring.

Edge confronts Bryan and says he talks about this possibly being his last match at WrestleMania. Edge says every time he steps in the ring it could be his last match. He talks about Bryan bringing up the Chamber and mentions he out-lasted 29 other men, including him, in the Royal Rumble. He tells Bryan he wants to ruin his dream and pick the bones the next night. He says that's the actions of a real hero.

Finally, Edge tells Bryan he doesn't deserve to be in the main event of WrestleMania, and that was where he went too far. Bryan tackles Edge down and the fight is on. Edge reverses him and pounds him out. He grabs the chair Bryan brought with him and pounds Bryan with it. He stares down at Bryan and exits the ring, turning to stare at him from the aisle as he fumes with anger and his theme plays while the commentators wrap up all that just transpired before we head back to another commercial break.

Roman Reigns Gives Head Of The Table Orders

We return to some promotion for tickets to WrestleMania 37 from Cole and Corey Graves before the two briefly recap the opening segment between Edge and Daniel Bryan, showing video highlights of the brawl between the two.

From there, we shoot backstage where we see Roman Reigns, Jey Uso and Paul Heyman seated in a locker room watching the show. Reigns gives Heyman an order. Heyman leaves to tend to it. Reigns tells Uso what to do as well, telling him to use force if he has to. Uso heads off to handle that as well.

Seth Rollins vs. Shinsuke Nakamura

It's time to burn things down, as Seth Rollins' music hits and he makes his way down to the ring while Cole recaps what has happened in recent weeks between Rollins, Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura, including showing some video highlights of the Cesaro Swing that Rollins took.

As Rollins settles into the ring and takes his entrance gear off, his music fades down and the familiar sounds of Shinsuke Nakamura's theme hits as he makes his way down to the ring. Cole recaps recent happenings between Nakamura, Cesaro and Murphy and Rollins as more highlights are shown.

Back live, the bell sounds and we're off-and-running with our first match of the evening here on this week's WWE on FOX program. Early on, we see Nakamura taking it to Rollins. We see some action out on the floor as Nakamura continues to dominate. He rolls Rollins back into the ring as we head to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.

We're back from the break and we see Rollins has taken control of the offensive driver's seat in this contest, as he is taking it to Nakamura as we settle back from the commercials. He works Nakamura over for a few minutes while the commentators talk about Rollins dealing with tons of crap from fans due to a new social media campaign started to tell him how much he sucks.

Rollins hits a big Falcon Arrow on Nakamura and goes for the cover, however the Japanese wrestling veteran hangs on and starts showing his first signs of life since we returned from the break. He hits a nice spin kick that knocks Rollins dead in his tracks. He goes for the cover but Rollins kicks out. Now Nakamura backs in a corner and waits for Rollins, however Rollins has him scouted and reverses and hits a counter.

The two battle back-and-forth until out of nowhere, Nakamura slaps an armbar on Rollins. Rollins eventually hoists Nakamura up and power bombs his arm free to escape the dangerous hold. From there, Rollins wastes no time taking Nakamura out with his Stomp finisher. 1-2-3.

Winner: Seth Rollins

After The Match: Seth Rollins Attacks, Cesaro Makes The Save

Once the match wraps up, Rollins decides he hasn't had enough and while his music plays, he continues to attack Nakamura.

Finally, Cesaro sprints down to the ring in street clothes and makes the save. He attacks Rollins and calls him a coward, using his own words against him. Rollins backs off and stays on the aisle as Cesaro dares him to get in the ring again.

Backstage: Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman, Jey Uso & Adam Pearce

We shoot backstage where we see Roman Reigns seated as Paul Heyman stands behind him talking to him, when in comes Jey Uso with Adam Pearce. Heyman tells Reigns that Pearce is here after being forced into making a very dumb decision earlier this evening.

Reigns stands up and gets in Pearce's face. He calmly explains to him that he's only defending his title once and tells him he's welcome for saving him from a tough decision. Pearce says he hears him but has to take everything into consideration. He thanks him and walks off. Reigns stares on.

Backstage: Seth Rollins Challenges Cesaro At WrestleMania 37

We see Seth Rollins throwing a fit backstage. He is interviewed about what just happened and he talks about being sick of it. He says he's sick of being embarassed. He claims if Cesaro is man enough, this is a challenge for a match at WrestleMania 37 where he will teach him a lesson about respect once and for all.

He says he'll never be swung ever again. Never. Cesaro hits the scene and slams Rollins head off a case and then swings him around-and-around in the Cesaro Swing, forcing Rollins to break his promise seconds after making it. As Rollins lay on the ground Cesaro stands over top of him and tells him that his challenge is accepted.

Big E. & The Street Profits vs. Apollo Crews, Chad Gable & Otis

The WWE Intercontinental Champion is introduced as we return live inside the ThunderDome for our second match of the evening.

As Big E. settles at the top of the entrance ramp, he is joined by his two tag-team partners for what will be a six-man tag-team match, as The Street Profits -- Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins -- are introduced.

The trio make their way down to the ring as the commentators talk us into a pre-match commercial break. We return from the break to the aforementioned Seth Rollins and Cesaro backstage segment.

From there, we shoot back live inside the ThunderDome where Chad Gable and Otis are introduced. The two make their way out and await their partner, Apollo Crews, who is introduced and joins them. The three men make their way down to the ring for this six-man tag-team match-up.

The bell sounds and here we go with our next match of the evening here on the blue brand FOX program. After some back-and-forth action early on, we see the heel trio jump off to an early offensive lead. Gable tags in and goes to work on one-half of The Street Profits, hitting a double-team spot and then focusing his attack on the leg of the tag specialist.

Apollo tags in and Gable holds him as Apollo pounds him and picks up where he left off, taking it to one-half of The Street Profits. Ford continues to be on the wrong end of a one-sided beatdown, however he finally fires up after some help from Dawkins. He hits a big dive out to the floor, but afterwards, Big E. and Apollo, now the legal men, finish up the match as Apollo dusts the I-C champ off and scores the pin.

Winners: Apollo Crews, Chad Gable & Otis

Backstage: Adam Pearce Runs Into Edge

We see Adam Pearce walking backstage when he is approached by Edge. Edge asks what kind of ship Peace is running. He says he's not gonna reward Daniel Bryan for all of the crap he's pulling.

"The Rated-R Superstar" pleads his case, noting he won the Royal Rumble, which Bryan was in, and brings up Bryan losing twice to Reigns. He says he gets his one-on-one match at WrestleMania against Reigns for the title and that's it.

Pearce takes in what Edge just said, so Edge asks him what's to even think about. He tells him his responsibilities to WWE are what he has to think about. Not to Edge. Not to Roman Reigns. Not to Daniel Bryan. To WWE as a whole. Edge threatens him to make the right one.

The KO Show With Kevin Owens & Special Guest - Sami Zayn

We see highlights of recent interaction between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn and then we watch as the two head from the backstage area towards the ring, as The KO Show is up next. On that note, we head to a commercial break.

After we return from the break to the aforementioned Pearce-Edge segment, we see Kevin Owens in the ring as it's time for The KO Show. He talks about what has been going on with Sami Zayn and his conspiracy theories as of late. He brings up Zayn kicking him.

Owens says he's out here to get the answer to the question from the one man who can provide it. He brings out his special guest. Sami Zayn's music hits and he makes his way out. He says the answer is yes, he apologizes for kicking Owens.

Owens says that's not the question. Zayn says the answer is yes, Owens can be in the documentary. Owens says that's not it. Zayn says the answer is yes, Logan Paul is interested in the documentary and is going to be here next week for the premiere at the red carpet. A graphic flashes across the screen to advertise Logan Paul for next week's show.

Kevin goes on to say he doesn't care about Sami's apology, his documentary or Logan Paul. Zayn cuts him off and says Owens is a big tough guy and he doesn't care. He accuses Owens of pretending to be on his side but not acting like it. Owens goes on to challenge Zayn to a match at WrestleMania.

Zayn rambles and Owens cuts him off and asks if the answer is yes or no. Zayn says fine, fine. He says yes. Finally we see the tensions come to a head as the brawl ensues and Owens takes it to Zayn. He knocks him out of the ring and brings him back in the ring, hitting him with a Stunner.

Owens stares up at the WrestleMania sign and then looks down at Zayn as his music plays to end the segment. The commentators talk about their match at WrestleMania and how Logan Paul will be here next week.

Backstage: Adam Pearce Runs Into Daniel Bryan

After The KO Show, we head backstage where we see Adam Pearce once again when this time, Daniel Bryan approaches him.

Bryan tells Pearce it's ok, he mentions how he used to be the GM of SmackDown and understands he's the position he's in right now. He tells him that's also why he knows that Pearce knows what's the right thing to do.

He says all he has to do is do it. He walks off and we head to another commercial break.

Backstage: Bianca Belair Addresses The Slap Heard 'Round The World

We return from the break to highlights of Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks' post-match interaction and the slap heard 'round the world. From there, we shoot backstage where Kayla Braxton is standing by with The EST of WWE.

Belair talks about her momma telling her how sometimes you have to be the bigger person to focus on your business. She says she was the bigger person so she can get to WrestleMania -- and that's her business. She claims to be just a little bit better.

Just enough to make history and for this rookie to end her reign and win the championship. "And that's on Mary had a Little Lamb," says Belair. She then says to hide the kids because no one should see what she's about to do.

Bianca Belair vs. Natalya

From there, we head back inside the ThunderDome where Bianca Belair's theme hits and The EST of WWE makes her way down to the ring for our next match of the evening.

As she settles inside the squared circle for our next bout, which will be in the women's division, the theme of Natalya hits and she makes her way down to the ring accompanied by Tamina as the commentators talk through recent highlights of women's action on SmackDown involving these two, with Nattie and Tamina attacking Belair last week on the show.

The bell sounds and we're off-and-running with this women's match. Belair hits Nattie with a big drop kick to start things off. A big follow-up shoulder tackle knocks the women's veteran out to the floor, where she takes a moment to regroup with Tamina.

Back in the ring, The EST of WWE continues to take it to the Hart family veteran as the commentators sing her praises and discuss among themselves her ongoing rivalry with Sasha Banks. As they do, coincidentally enough, the theme song of "The Boss" hits, as Boss Time hits in the middle of this match.

Banks comes out and while distracted by her, Belair eats a big kick from Tamina that knocks her from the ring apron down to the floor. Banks approaches Belair and taunts her as we head to a mid-match commercial break.

We're back from the break and we are informed that SmackDown Women's Champion Sasha Banks has joined in on special commentary for the remainder of this match. Cole talks to Banks while Nattie takes it to Belair inside the squared circle.

"The Boss" gloats on special commentary as Belair finally starts to show signs of life, as she begins to make her comeback and the pace of this bout picks up. Belair tries to finish off Nattie but she survives, prompting Banks to call it a rookie mistake on commentary, continuing her theme of down-talking the up-and-comer ahead of their WrestleMania showdown.

We get to a spot in the match where Belair has Nattie down in the ring and she is out on the floor. Banks gets up from her seat and Belair walks over and repays the favor from Fastlane, blasting her with a big slap of her own. She heads back into the ring and finishes off Nattie for the win.

Winner: Bianca Belair

After The Match: Sasha Banks Gets Revenge

Once the match wraps up, as Belair is celebrating her victory in the ring, she is attacked from behind by Sasha Banks. "The Boss" knocks Belair out of the ring and taunts her to end the segment.

Backstage: Edge Confronts Roman Reigns About Daniel Bryan

We see Roman Reigns sitting in his locker room with Paul Heyman and Jey Uso when Edge walks in. Uso pops up and Edge and he go face-to-face.

Reigns tells Edge he respects his guts, because it took a lot of courage to walk in here. He stands up and gets in Edge's face and tells him that if he doesn't hurry up and get to his point, he's going to let the pitbull off his leash.

Edge asks how that worked for him last week? He goes on to bring up the fact that Daniel Bryan is trying to steal their spotlight. He points out D-Bry doing the same thing back in 2014. We head to a commercial break.

Dolph Ziggler (w/ Robert Roode) vs. Rey Mysterio (w/ Dominik Mysterio)

We return from the break to some updates to the WrestleMania 37 lineup and then we see the SmackDown Tag-Team Champions Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode in the ring.

From there, the theme of Rey Mysterio plays and out comes Dominik Mysterio and Rey Mysterio. Dom gives papa a piggy-back ride down to the ring as Michael Cole reads a plug for Progressive insurance.

Cole sets up a split-screen "earlier today" interview with the Mysterio's. Rey talks in it about his goal of becoming SmackDown Tag-Team Champions with his son. Back live, the bell sounds and this match is off-and-running, as we've got Ziggler going one-on-one against Rey Rey.

Ziggler immediately takes control of the action, backing Mysterio in the corner and hitting a big splash on him before gloating and taunting him. We see Rey fight back and set Dolph up for a 6-1-9, however Dolph catches Rey and takes him out to the floor, power-bombing him over the guard rail into the front row right in front of the ThunderDome screens.

Dominik walks over and Dolph blasts him with a super kick as we head to a mid-match commercial break. When we return from the break, we see Dolph is still taking it to Rey as the action is ongoing back inside the ring. The commentators talk us through some highlights of what went down right before we went to the commercials.

Finally, we see Mysterio knock Dolph off the top-rope and make a comeback. He hits a big flying senton off the top for a follow-up, however moments later, he walks into a Fame-Asser from Dolph for a close near fall. Ziggler goes to follow-up, however Rey sets him up for the 6-1-9. Roode hits the ring, but Dominik does as well to knock him out.

Rey gets involved, as he goes to hit a leapfrog from the ring to the floor, however as he leaped, Ziggler grabbed him in mid-air from behind and blasts him with a Zig-Zag. He covers him and gets the 1-2...no! Rey kicks out. Seconds later, Ziggler hoists Rey up to finish him off, but Rey headscissors him down into a 6-1-9. He follows that up with the big leapfrog splash for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

Adam Pearce's WrestleMania 37 Decision

We wrap up business with the previous match and then we immediately head into our main event segment, as Adam Pearce makes his way down to the ring to reveal his decision regarding WrestleMania 37.

As Pearce settles into the ring, the theme of The Tribal Chief hits and out comes Roman Reigns accompanied by Paul Heyman and Jey Uso. As they make their way down to the ring, the commentators inform us of the WWE Hall Of Fame induction announcements earlier this week of The Great Khali and Kane.

The fans chant "You Tapped Out! You Tapped Out!" at Reigns as Cole hypes Pearce's decision regarding the Universal Title at WrestleMania 37. On that note, we head to a commercial break.

We return from the break to a plug for Sami Zayn's red carpet premiere with Logan Paul on next week's SmackDown. From there, we see Reigns standing in front of Pearce. He looks around at the ThunderDome screens as the chants of "You Tapped Out!" picks up from the WWE Universe.

From there, the familiar sounds of Edge's theme plays and "The Rated-R Superstar" makes his way out and heads down to the ring after stopping on the entrance ramp for his big fireworks / pyro explosion.

After that, Daniel Bryan's theme hits and after a lengthy delay, he finally emerges and makes his way down to the ring as the ThunderDome is quickly filled with thunderous "Yes!" chants.

Finally, Pearce begins to address the three Superstars in the ring. He says all of their cases make sense, including Reigns' claim to only having to defend his title once on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

With that in mind, he announces he has made his decision. He says at WrestleMania 37 the three of them will compete in a triple-threat match for the WWE Universal Championship.

Now that the decision has been made, we see all three guys start to brawl. Reigns emerges with a chair as the lone man standing, however as he prepares to blast Bryan with it, we see Edge has recovered. He nails Reigns with a Spear. And another. He picks up the chair and whacks Reigns with it. Now he whacks Bryan with it. And again to Reigns. And again to Bryan.

Cole says Edge has snapped. Now we see the proof, as he puts Bryan's head through the steel chair. He punches Reigns a few times, heads out of the ring and grabs another chair. He re-enters the ring. Uso hits the ring but Edge tears Uso alive with the chair he just retrieved. Uso exits the ring.

Bryan is crawling out of the ring having escaped from the chair before anything drastic happened. Edge stops him and drags him back in the ring. He drops an elbow on the back of his neck. Reigns has exited the ring, too. Several officials hit the ring. Edge hits one with a chair. He sets Bryan's head on a chair and is holding the other. The officials stop him long enough to get Bryan out of the ring.

We see Reigns looking on from the top of the ramp confused and hurt. Bryan is on the floor being tended to by doctors. Edge unfolds the chair and sits down in it. He is steaming angry. His music plays to end this week's show.
