Eric Bischoff weighs in on the WWE WrestleMania 41 main event.
John Cena emerged victorious, claiming his record-breaking 17th world championship. However, his win didn’t come without controversy. The bout saw interference from Travis Scott and concluded with Cena striking Rhodes with the WWE Championship belt before securing the pinfall. The chaotic finish has sparked backlash online, with many fans expressing disappointment over how the match played out.
Among the critics is Eric Bischoff. On a recent episode of his *83 Weeks* podcast with Conrad Thompson, the former WCW Executive Vice President didn’t hold back his thoughts on the match’s execution and storytelling.
"I have to believe when both those guys watch this match back, they're going to go, 'We missed it. We missed the mark because that match just didn't create emotion...the responsibility is equal among the parties. The chemistry wasn't there. I don't think the story was there to begin with. The heel turn was soft. I didn't say it's bad, but it was soft. It wasn't compelling. There was nothing that felt different than a million other turns we've seen before. Yes, for all of you people who say I never criticize WWE, please pay attention. That story missed the mark from the get-go, and we talked about it here. And it just hasn't gotten any better. I believe it had a lack of heat, just lack of a good story," Bischoff said.
Bischoff is known for his heavy criticism of AEW, but he hasn't been afraid to call out WWE when something clearly misses.
