WWE Has Reportedly Released Sasha Banks

As previously reported, "The Boss" Sasha Banks and Naomi were set to compete in a 6-Pack Challenge on the May 16th episode of WWE Monday Night RAW, but even before the show could go on the air, they left the arena and went home because they weren't happy with the creative direction of the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships as well as of their own. Sasha Banks and Naomi was then stripped of the titles and suspended indefinitely.

Since then, neither Banks nor Naomi has commented on their walkout, WWE has repeatedly mentioned that they have “disappointed the WWE Universe” by staging a walkout and the WWE has even removed them from all of their online and television presence such as their intro video, their Facebook pages and their official WWEShop.com merch page. "The Boss" Sasha Banks and Naomi would even remove all references to the WWE from their social media accounts.

An update was recently provided by Wrestling Inc.'s Raj Giri that Banks has been released by the WWE, but there is no word yet on if she requested the release or if the decision came from WWE themselves. Former WWE writer Kazeem Famuyide noted a little while back that Sasha Banks’ WWE contract was set to expire within two months, but that was never confirmed. According to Fightful Select, this was a type of situation that had no clear cut ending and that the WWE didn't even have any plans of freezing the contracts of Sasha Banks or Naomi or even releasing them from their contracts.

Sasha last competed for WWE, when she and Naomi successfully retained the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles against Natalya and Shayna Baszler on the May 15th WWE Live Event from Roanoke, Virginia. Her last TV match took place on the May 13 episode of WWE SmackDown, when she and Naomi successfully retained the titles against Natalya and Shayna Baszler.

There is no word yet on if Sasha Banks has a non-compete clause with the WWE or if she has the option to sign with any promotion she chooses, but updates will be provided once it has been made available. There's also no word yet on if there is any interest from AEW or IMPACT Wrestling in signing her, but that is a big possibility as Sasha has expressed interest in working in Japan at times, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for her.

Sasha Banks signed with the WWE in August of 2012 after working a WWE tryout camp in June of 2012 and immediately started to work in WWE NXT. She was then moved up to the WWE main roster since July 2015, and has since been making a name for herself as one of the greatest WWE Superstars of all time. Sasha is a 1-time WWE NXT Women’s Champion, a 5-time WWE RAW Women’s Champion, a one-time SmackDown Women’s Champion and a three-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. Banks was also the fourth WWE Women’s Triple Crown Champion and the third WWE Women’s Grand Slam Champion.
