During last night's episode of SmackDown, SmackDown Women's Champion Bianca Belair retained her title against Carmella from the Rolling Loud rap festival in Miami, Florida. Immediately after the matchup, Belair grabbed the mic and introduced Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young. Young appeared on a video call and announced that WWE will be holding a PPV Event for the first time ever on New Year's Day.
The PPV Event has yet to be named, but it was announced to air live on Saturday, January 1st, 2022 at 8PM ET from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. The PPV Event will reportedly stream on Peacock and the WWE Network, with tickets set to go on sale Friday, August 27th at 10AM ET via Ticketmaster.
WWE's New Year's Day PPV Event will reportedly feature Superstars from both RAW and SmackDown such as WWE Universal Champion "The Tribal Chief" Roman Reigns, WWE Champion Bobby Lashley, SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair, RAW Women’s Champion Nikki A.S.H., RAW Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Omos, SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos and many more.
