It was previously reported that on this past Friday's episode of SmackDown WWE legend and the 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena had a face-to-face in-ring segment with WWE Universal Champion "The Head Of The Table" Roman Reigns prior to their huge WWE Universal Championship Match at the WWE SummerSlam PPV. The segment saw the 16-time World Champion take some shots at Roman Reigns and seemingly also at former WWE Star CM Punk.
John Cena said:
“Roman, you’re gonna put on a hell of a show, but I’m just gonna hang in there for 1, 2, 3. And then I’m gonna take your title, jump the barricade and run out of Allegiant Stadium as fast as I can. I may even blow you a kiss goodbye.”
The "jump the barricade and run out" line as well as the "I may even blow you a kiss goodbye line" is reportedly a direct reference to CM Punk as immediately following CM Punk's win over John Cena in the main event of the 2011 Money In The Bank PPV, where Punk defeated Cena to capture the WWE Title, Punk jumped the barricade and ran, while blowing a kiss to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.
Not only did John Cena seemingly take some shots and refer to Punk this past Friday on SmackDown, but the WWE legend took to his Instagram as well several hours later and seemingly acknowledged Punk when Cena posted a photo of Punk blowing a kiss to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon after defeating John Cena in the main event of the 2011 Money in the Bank PPV at the Allstate Arena in Chicago.
As previously reported, CM Punk took to his Instagram stories and posted a GIF of Lord Voldemort, and his post is believed to be a response to Cena's SmackDown promo.
