WWE Live Event Results (9/23/23) - Palm Springs, CA

Thanks to long-time rajah.com reader Rem Martinez for sending in these results!

Hey guys. I just got back from the WWE SuperShow at the Acrisure Arena in Palm Springs, California. I thought I would share the results with all of you.

Match #1

Becky Lynch (c) vs Tiffany Stratton for the NXT Women's Championship

Becky opening the show probably got the biggest pop of the night of anyone not named Cody Rhodes. A good opener with both women looking very impressive. Tiffany misses a Top Rope Moonsault and Becky capitalizes with the Manhandle Slam 1-2-3.

Winner and Still NXT Women's Champion: Becky Lynch

Match #2

Gunther (c) w/Imperium vs Chad Gable w/Otis and Maxxine Dupri for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

Another good match in the rivalry between the Ring General and the Founder of the Alpha Academy. Gunther kept Gable down for a good portion of the match. Chad comes back and had the IC champ in peril by the Ankle Lock on several occasions. Gunther eventually recovers and puts Gable away with a Powerbomb 1-2-3.

Winner and Still WWE Intercontinental Champion: Gunther

The crew sets up 2 chairs in the ring and the VIP Lounge with MVP is up next. MVP comes out to run down the people in the crowd. He tells us we're lucky to see the VIP Lounge. He introduces his very special guest....Omos. Omos gets on the mic and calls Palm Springs a dump (twice). He is interrupted by the "American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes. Cody comes to the defense of the fans and tells MVP that no one wants to hear him run his mouth. Omos and Cody have a stare down, but MVP gets in between them and warns Cody that he needs to worry this opponent, Dirty Dominik Mysterio.

Match #3

Cody Rhodes vs "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio in a Palm Springs Street Fight.

The NXT North American Champion is flying solo tonight. A good match with a Steel Chair and Kendo Sticks coming into play. Dom leans a table against the turnbuckles, but Cody stopped him. Cody takes Dom Dom down with the Cody Cutter and is fired up. Here comes MVP and Omos. Cody takes out MVP with a Tope Suicida. Cody gets back in the ring and is met by Omos. Omos charges Cody, but Cody side steps it and Omos goes through the set up table. Cross Rhodes to Dom 1-2-3.

Winner: Cody Rhodes

Cody stuck around for a few minutes to sign autographs while we went to Intermission.

Match #4

Otis w/Maxxine Dupri vs "Big" Bronson Reed

This was an interesting match up with two big boys. In the early stages, neither man could take the other off their feet. Otis is eventually able to Powerslam Bronson to a nice reaction. Otis climbs the ropes, but misses a Vader Bomb. Reed climbs up and nails the Tsunami from the top rope 1-2-3.

Winner: "Big" Bronson Reed

Match #5

Charlotte Flair vs Asuka vs Iyo Sky (c) in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Women's Championship

This was the match of the night. All 3 women showed up for this one. The match ends when the Queen has the Empress in the Figure 8. Iyo Sky hit a double flying knee on Charlotte to break up the Submission. Asuka gets Iyo down in the Asuka Lock, but Iyo rolls through and stacks Asuka's shoulders 1-2-3.

Winner and Still WWE Women's Champion Iyo Sky

Main Event

Seth "Freakin" Rollins (c) The Miz for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

The Miz cut a pre match promo talking about his "Manhood". He said Maryse it's hotter than any woman in the arena. Seth comes out to a big pop. The singing goes on for several minutes for his entrance. A fun match that has a ref bump that The Miz tried to take advantage of. Before the second referee arrived, the Miz got in a cheap shot and connected with the Skull Crushing Finale 1-2-Kickout. The Miz sits Rollins on the top turnbuckle. The Miz attempts an Avalanche Skull Crushing Finale, but Seth prevents it. Seth is eventually able to hit the Curb Stomp and retain his title 1-2-3.

Winner and Still WWE World Heavyweight Champion: Seth "Freakin" Rollins

Overall, a very good show
