The announced WWE Raw Women's Championship match at the upcoming WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view has been changed.
As noted, prior to this week's edition of Monday Night Raw, WWE announced via their official website and social media outlets that Rhea Ripley will be defending her Raw Women's Championship against Asuka at the 5/16 pay-per-view event.
During the weekly red brand program on the USA Network this evening, however, the match was ultimately changed to include Charlotte Flair.
The change took place after "The Queen" defeated Dana Brooke in singles action on Raw and then made her case to Sonya Deville, who decided that the women, much like the men, will have a triple-threat championship match at the upcoming PPV show.
WWE WrestleMania Backlash is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from the ThunderDome inside of the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida, and will stream live via the WWE Network on Peacock.
As of this writing, the aforementioned Raw Women's Championship bout, as well as the WWE Championship triple-threat match with Bobby Lashley defending against Drew McIntyre and Braun Strowman, and a Bayley vs. Bianca Belair match for the SmackDown Women's Championship are the only three bouts officially announced for the show. We will keep you posted here at Rajah.com as updates to the card continue to surface.
Featured below are video highlights of the aforementioned Charlotte Flair vs. Dana Brooke match on Raw, along with the segment with Sonya Deville that saw her added to the match, and some clips of Asuka and Rhea Ripley reacting to the changes.
