WWE News: Kevin Owens Provides Injury Update; Reveals He Is Still Awaiting Neck Surgery

WWE superstar Kevin Owens has been out of action since before WrestleMania 41 after suffering a serious injury to his neck/spine that will ultimately require surgery. On Sunday, Owens released a video providing a bit of an update on where he's at in his recovery, revealing that he hasn't even had surgery yet.

"We don’t have a surgery date yet; I have not had surgery yet, despite reports on the contrary. We’re still going to try to figure out what the best way to go about it all is, exactly what needs to be done. So we’re kinda figuring that out still. There was a lot of uncertainty, but hopefully in the next few weeks we get clarity and we do the surgery and then we go from there. I don’t know what’s happening with my neck. So, we’ll figure it out."

Owens also reflected on his 10-year anniversary on WWE's main brand (May 18), as it was a decade ago that he moved up and answered John Cena's open challenge on Raw. Owens was the reigning NXT Champion at the time and went on to defeat Cena two weeks later at Elimination Chamber 2015 in a non-title champion vs. champion match. Owens thanked everyone that has helped him on this journey even though he's not where he wants to be at this moment.

Owens ended the video talking about a book by JJ McGee titled Fight Forever: The Ballad of Kevin & Sami, which was published earlier this month and focuses on the joint journey of Sami Zayn and Owens and their wrestling careers. Each chapter of this history will focus in-depth on one match, the fictional story leading up to and away from it, and some of the real events connected to it.
