After a successful weekend that saw WWE put on three major shows - NXT Great American Bash, Saturday Night's Main Event and Evolution, last night's Monday Night Raw promised to be eventful. Apart from three matches being made official for SummerSlam, below are a few other noteworthy developments:
- It was confirmed on Raw that Stephanie Vaquer, who won the Women's Battle Royal at Evolution, will be challenging the Women's World Champion at Clash in Paris which takes place on August 31. The title is currently held by Naomi but she is putting her belt on the line at SummerSlam in early August against Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY in a triple threat match. Vaquer will presumably face the winner of that match.
- There was no further update on injured Seth Rollins. Paul Heyman noted that it is too early to determine how long Rollins will be out but pointed out that he has nearly a full year to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase, having only won it last month. Heyman stated that until that date gets closer, Rollins' status is not a relevant subject.
- It was announced on Raw that Jelly Roll will serve as the special guest host of Jimmy Kimmel Live on July 16 and his tag team partner at SummerSlam, Randy Orton, will also be making an appearance on the show. With Jelly and Orton set to face Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam, many expect some sort of angle to go down on the show.
- Finally, Roman Reigns made his much anticipated return to WWE TV last night on Raw. Reigns entered the arena at the end of the show to a massive pop, coming down to help CM Punk and Jey Uso stave off an attack from Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker. Reigns cleared house, then helped Uso to his feet but stopped short of accepting a handshake from Punk. A possible match for SummerSlam could see Reigns & Uso team up to take on Breakker & Reed. As rumored, WWE looks to be pushing Reigns as the "OTC1" as they immediately launched a new line of merchandise with that name.
