WWE NXT 2.0 Live Results (February 8, 2022) - Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, FL

A Toxic Opening

We open straight up with a video of Kay Lee Ray and Mandy Rose trolling each other for weeks. Rose cuts a promo in it, pointing out the fact that she dethroned Raquel Gonzalez, and has put the entire women's division on notice. She knows KLR is the longest-reigning NXT UK women's champion but, ultimately, Mandy is the baddest bitch in the game. Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett welcome us and state that the women's title will be our main event match.

Dusty Classic Semi-Finals Match: the Grizzled Young Veterans vs the Diamond Mine

The Creed Brothers are already in the ring post-video and the GYV make their entrance on mics. The Creed Brothers clash with them on the ramp and battle them down into the ring, where the ref calls for the bell. Brutus Creed easily tosses GYV across the ring with a belly to belly and the GYV regroup outside the ring, discussing strategy. The crowd is hot for the Diamond Mine, firing off multiple "Creed" chants. A "Gibson sucks" chant follows his tagging in. Brutus with a Fireman's Carry takedown. Brutus tags in Julius then gut-wrench lifts Brutus and suplexes his brother onto Gibson! Julius Creed uses multiple suplexes to batter Gibson, then Drake who comes in off a blind tag. Three suplex tosses later and Drake's tagging out. Gibson comes in as Julius tags in Brutus and the duo double-team him.
Brutus hits a powerful gut-wrench suplex toss then follows the GYV to the outside. Brutus sends Gibson into the ring but is distracted by Drake, allowing Gibson to punch Brutus in the throat. The GYV position Brutus' head underneath the apron and double team him with a slingshot, smashing Brutus' throat/neck into the steel. They take the action back inside.
Drake takes a turn working over Brutus. The crowd is especially caliente tonight, firing off chants left and right. I haven't heard Creed chanted this much since the 90's. Brutus continues to be the target of the GYV, who slow the pace drastically by using multiple working holds, all of which targeting the possibly damaged throat of Brutus. GYV use frequent tags to successfully cut the ring in quarters. Brutus at one point attempts to take down Drake, but the entering Gibson stomps a mudhole into him as the crowd loudly chants "you suck!" Brutus counters a suplex with one of his own. Gibson tags in Drake as both men struggle to contain Brutus. Brutus kicks and scrapes his way across the mat and makes the hot tag to Julius Creed!
Creed hits the ring like a tornado, dropping Gibson and Drake with speedy diving shoulders and strikes. Drake attempts a Guillotine but Julius breaks it, countering it with a slam. Julius with a small package slam for a close two, but Gibson makes the save. Julius looks for another suplex but Drake makes the blind tag to Gibson. Julius doesn't realize it and GYV work together to lure Julius outside before Drake hits Julius with a beautiful, speedy suicide dive that illicits a "holy shit!" chant so loud the show is censored for several seconds. Drake and Gibson team together to execute the Doomsday Device on Julius and cover! Julius kicks out at three! Drake looks for a Shotgun Dropkick but Julius dodges and makes a hot tag to Brutus as Gibson comes in.
Brutus and Gibson pause a moment, soaking in the crowd before throwing rights. Brutus wins the slug fest and slams Gibson to the mat, pounding him with big, brutal body shots. Gibson takes a cheap shot, punching Brutus Creed in the throat again. Gibson and Drake neutralize Julius then double-team Brutus. Gibson and Drake set up a double-team move but Brutus continues to fight, ramming Gibson into the corner as Drake sits perched upon the top turnbuckle. In an incredible spot Julius runs up Brutus' back and hits a top-rope Superplex on Drake, immediately followed by Brutus hitting one on Gibson! The duo hit their as-yet-unnamed finisher and pick up the win to advance to the finals and shoot down the GYV's shot at a third run in the Dusty Classic!
Your Winners, the Diamond Mine's Creed Brothers!

Backstage Interview: Cora Jade

Cora is asked about her match last week, in which she lost a match to Raquel Gonzalez but won her respect. The new duo of Yulissa Leon & Valentina Feroz come up and begin to heckle Cora. Raquel arrives, speaks sternly to them in Spanish, and the duo leave. She calls Cora a chingona and states that only she (Raquel) can call Cora that. Jade takes that to mean Raquel has her back.

Daddy Stratton's Credit Card Singles Match: Tiffany Stratton vs Wendy Choo(cc)

Stratton is in the ring when we return. Choo makes her way out, still rocking the PJ's gimmick. Both women lock up after Stratton yells about her daddy's credit card. The crowd is hot for Wendy in this match. Big time. Her gimmick may be odd but the NXT Universe loves her. Both women grapple up, with Wendy countering everything Tiffany attempts. Wendy controls the majority of the match and uses short-run elbow drops and a sleeper to punish rich-kid Stratton. At one point in a vignette, it's mentioned that Wendy Choo maxed out the credit card already. Choo uses some very innovative offense but Stratton takes control with a well-timed back elbow to the face of a cartwheeling Choo. Stratton hits a cartwheel attack on Choo of her own then follows it up with a pair of basement dropkicks. Stratton climbs up top and hits Choo with a rope-assisted corkscrew body drop, picking up the win.
Your Winner, Tiffany Stratton!

Singles Match: Pete Dunne vs Draco Anthony

Prior to the match, we see Joe Gacy speaking to Draco in the back, making his usual sales pitch while his imitation Michael Myers just stands there. We get on to our entrances, shown picture-in-picture during the break. Draco Anthony, fka Chase Crews and Blake Cortez, was trained by Hall of Famer Booker T, for what it's worth. The match begins near the end of the commercial break, and we spy Joe Gacy and his silent guardian watching from the balcony. Draco starts off very strong, controlling the pace for the first ninety seconds or so. Draco, incensed at Dunne's refusal to shake his hand prior to the match, takes a moment to taunt Dunne. Dunne uses the moment to stomp Draco's fingers. The NXT Universe begins chanting for Pete Dunne to break Draco's fingers. Dunne takes control back with his cringe-worthy arsenal of finger snaps, contortions and other forms of torture. Pete Dunne downs Draco and sits upon his back, yanking the left arm back while Dunne attempts to manipulate the joints.
The crowd switches to favoring Draco and the youngster attempts to power to a vertical base. Pete Dunne unloads a dozen clubbing shots but Draco absorbs them and drops Dunne with a pull-back clothesline. Draco with a snap suplex. Draco with a unique suplex toss for a close cover. Draco finds himself distracted by Joe Gacy and the veteran Dunne immediately punishes Draco for it, again targeting the fingers. Draco impressively sends Dunne outside with a snap suplex. Dunne avoids an attempted ambush by Tony D'Angelo and returns to the ring. Dunne hits his Bitter End and picks up the win over Draco. Impressive effort by Draco.
Your Winner, Pete Dunne!

After the Match: Dunne & D'Angelo

D'Angelo hits the ring and slaps a sleeper on Dunne. Dunne escapes by snapping the fingers and suplexing D'Angelo. Both men exit the ring and Dunne throws tons of weapons into the ring, ranging from tables and chairs to cricket bats and trash cans. We're reminded that next week, Dunne faces D'Angelo in a steel cage. Dunne suggests that they take all the weapons they can find, gesturing to the cluttered ring, and suggests they have a "weaponized steel cage match." Tony accepts! The crowd flips out.

Singles Match: Sanga w/ Grayson Waller vs LA Knight

LA Knight makes his way out first and we're sent to a commercial break. Afterwards, Veer Sanga is escorted out by Grayson Waller. Sanga is 6'8, 330 pounds per Wade Barrett. I like his mustache. The bell rings and the crowd starts a loud chant for Knight as the veteran throws rights into the bigger opponent. Knight ducks under a lariat attempt and hits multiple running forearms that stagger Sanga. Knight with a standing dropkick that staggers Sanga again. The move costs Knight as by the time he regains his footing, Sanga is ready to unleash--and unleash he does. Sanga beats Knight around the ring and to the outside. Sanga charges Knight but LA dodges, causing Sanga to smash his face into the pole. Despite this, the two battle into the ring. Knight attempts a BFT but Sanga tosses him away. Sanga whips Knight into the corner and charges right into a big boot from Knight. Knight begins again running off the ropes, hitting Sanga with jumping clotheslines on each. Knight hits a mule dropkick off the top and covers for two but Sanga literally throws Knight off of him. Waller, unseen by the ref, removes a turnbuckle pad. The ref finally notices and goes to warn Waller. Sanga attempts to chokeslam Knight. Knight whips Sanga into the exposed turnbuckle! Knight hits the BFT and picks up the win!
Your Winner, LA Knight!

After the Match: Restraining Order, Lifted!

Waller immediately attacks Knight after the match, lifting the restraining order. Both men slug it out and Knight pummels Waller, connecting with a BFT on Waller as the crowd goes apeshit! Waller and Sanga retreat up the ramp as Knight stays fired up in the ring.

Backstage: Dakota Kai & Wendy Choo

Choo heads backstage, looking for the merch she bought with Stratton's dad's credit card. She comes across Dakota Kai who tells Choo that clothes won't make her any better.

Championship Summit: Santos Escobar w/ LDF and NXT Champion Bron Breakker

We return after a break and find the ring set up for this championship summit. Santos Escobar is seated at a table, with a black carpet in the ring. Wade Barrett serves as moderator and the entirety of Legado Del Fantasma stand behind Escobar's back. Bron gets a great pop. Bron's asked the first question, regarding his surety about coming out next week as champ. Breakker tells Escobar that he respects Escobar but at Vengeance Day, he's going to beat his ass. Breakker suggests they flip the table over and start fighting right now. Escobar laughs and accuses Bron of being too young, too new, and too naive. Escobar claims to be pulling all the strings and has everything under control. Escobar states that while people like Paul Heyman are bragging about Bron, he---and they're interrupted by Raw's Dolph Ziggler! Dolph comes out to a huge welcome from the NXT Universe! The crowd tears off another "holy shit" chant as Dolph, dressed in black, takes Wade's seat as moderator and gets a mic.
Ziggler is great on the mic. Ziggler addresses the recent comments the two have had back and forth on Twitter. Dolph accuses Bron of "renting" his cellphone, haha. Dolph states that Bron asked if Dolph even worked on Tuesdays, and Ziggler states that clearly, he does. He then asks who the hell Bron is. "Who the hell am I? I'm the NXT Champion and I'm the reason you're down here, pal! Tell you what, I'll handle you when I'm done handling him!" Ziggler states he could list his accolades but it'd take up the entire show and he'd have to ask TJ (Wilson) for the full list as he can't recall them. He does list off many that he does recall, however. Ziggler states that he has many accolades but there's one title he doesn't have--the NXT Championship. The crowd starts a loud "triple threat" chant. Ziggler tells us that the best part is he doesn't have to be better or smarter than Breakker, "which obviously I am," and be in Bron's head like he is and...enter Tommaso Ciampa!
Ciampa gets on the mic. "Dolph Ziggler in an NXT ring, isn't that something? What a moment!" The crowd loudly chants for a fatal four-way now, haha. "I'll be honest with you," Ciampa continues, "Dolph Ziggler as NXT Champion? That's a hard pass. Listen, kid--can I call you kid? I'm going to call you kid--I love your spirit but if you're going to walk into my home--" Before Ciampa can finish, Escobar pops up and demands to want to know what the hell is going on. He questions why Bron and Ciampa are chummy, then tells Dolph "you don't go here," eliciting the same words from the crowd. Ciampa tells Escobar "if you interrupt me again, you're not going to make it to Vengeance Day, you comprende, amigo?" Big pop from the crowd.
Dolph pisses off the entire arena when he states that the "same old two hundred fans" come out and make them feel special, and questions hen the helmet and training pads come off. The crowd did not take kindly to that. Tommaso clubs Ziggler and the two battle up the ramp. Legado triple-team Bron. Escobar turns his back to Bron, bragging to the crowd, and misses Bron clearing the ring. Escobar looks in shock when he turns to see just Bron behind him. The crowd woofs for the champ. Bron and Escobar start to clash but LDF attack Bron, hitting stereo step-up kicks to Bron's face before putting him through a table. Escobar gets on the mic and tells Bron that everything happens on Escobar's time "and this, this is my time. See you next week, young champion."

Singles Match: Dakota Kai vs Sarray

Sarray is out first to a great welcome from the NXT Universe. Dakota Kai is out next. We start up during the break and both women look to lock up. Kai plays a great heel, often taking moments to taunt the crowd or play the crazy-character, which she does well. Kai takes an early lead and the Captain of Team Kick begins to punish Sarray with rough strikes. Kai uses a thigh headlock before kicking Sarray to the back of the neck. Kai with a hair whip mat slam. Sarray ducks under a strike and attempts a roll-up but Kai escapes. Sarray transitions to a half-crab but Kai grabs the bottom rope.
Kai controls for several long moments and Wade Barrett praises her lengthy career here in NXT, calling her the "uncrowned Queen" of the women's division. Joseph points out that Kai's never won the NXT Women's title. Sarray fights back for a short spurt of offense until Kai drives Sarray's face into the mat, covering for a near fall. Sarray with a Panama Sunrise for a close roll-up. Kai and Sarray each shift, executing a sequence of about eight pin attempts as both women roll and change position. Kai misses a Helluva kick, allowing Sarray to set up Kai along the bottom ropes. Sarray with a dropkick to Kai's face, followed by a scoop slam as Sarray covers and picks up the win!
Your Winner, Sarray!

Dusty Classic Semi-Finals Match: MSK vs Edris Enofé & Malik Blade

MSK, the reigning Dusty Classic champs, are set to take on Enofé and Blade. We start with Wes Lee and Malik Blade. Both men lock up and perform standing switches before whipping into the ropes. Each man seems evenly matched, move for move, until Carter makes the blind tag in. Lee with a rope-assisted step-up kick to Blade followed by a Bronco Buster from Carter! Blade kicks out of the ensuing pin attempt at one. Enofé comes in and locks up with Carter. Enofé uses the ropes to dodge Carter and execute a Hurricanrana--but Carter rolls through impressively, landing on his feet! Carter tags Lee in and MSK double-team both opponents, sending them both to the ringside floor to regroup as we go to break!
During the break, MSK continue to double-team their opponents until Enofé regains control for his team. Enofé and Blade return the double-team kindness, executing a double hip toss on Carter. Blade comes in and attempts a sleeper on Carter. Carter escapes and runs against the ropes, rebounding into a beautiful spotlight dropkick from Blade! Picture perfect spot. Blade goes back to working Carter's neck with a chin lock. Carter again fights to his feet but Blade slams him back into the mat. Blade throws a knee into Carter's back and continues to work the chin lock. Carter again resists, so Blade breaks the hold and pounds Carter's chest with clubbing blows before locking in another chin lock. We return from break with Blade still working Carter's neck.
Wes Lee and Edris Enofé duke it out briefly in the ring. Lee fires up and uses his high-octane offense to break down Enofé. Tag to Carter. Lee slingshots Enofé into a Superkick from Carter, then pulls his knees up beneath Enofé for Carter to hit with a top-rope dive. The ref loses control as MSK and their opponents clash in and out of the ring. Wes lee is down. Enofé tags in Blade and they hit a modified 3D cutter. Enofé climbs up top and hits a huge Frog Splash on Carter, covering for a very close call! Lee makes the save right at three! Blade charges Carter in the corner but Carter pops him up and out of the ring. MSK double-team Enofé, hitting an Electric Chair neckbreaker to pick up the win and hand to the finals for a second year in a row!
Your Winners and Advancing to the Dusty Cup Finals, MSK!

NXT Women's Championship Main Event Match: Mandy Rose(c) vs Kay Lee Ray

KLR awaits the champ with the bat. Mandy Rose makes her way out solo, back to her red ring gear as Vic Joseph and Wade Barrett hype our main event. Expect an overrun as this match starts five minutes before 10pm. The announcements are made and we're underway. The crowd is hot for both women. KLR looks for a KLR Bomb early on but Rose escapes. KLR drops Rose with a big lariat before using a series of right forearms and fists to batter the champ. KLR looks for another early pin but gets nada. The crowd is hot throughout this match. KLR climbs the turnbuckles but Rose escapes tot he outside. KLR hits a suicide dive through the middle ropes in the corner in an awesome spot. Ray takes Rose into the ring and attempts another cover but no joy.
Rose counters a kick and whips Ray's head back into the turnbuckle, taking control for the first time int he match. Rose viciously slams Ray's head into the turnbuckle repeatedly as the ref count a warning. The crowd with a "you deserve it" chant, haha. Ray whips Rose but Rose ducks under a clothesline and hits a spinebuster, attempting a cover for a short two. Rose locks a thigh waistlock on KLR and pummels Ray's chest with her forearm as she attempts to reposition. KLR escapes and looks for another cover. Rose and Ray execute a series of counter moves and counter-pins. Rose looks for a backslide pin but Ray escapes. Rose with a beautiful side suplex toss for a close two! We're now in overrun territory.
The crowd continues with the dueling chants as Rose slows the pace and slaps an abdominal stretch on Ray. Rose slams her right elbow into Ray's ribs and applies extra pressure. Rose keeps the move locked in for several long moments until Ray uses a hip toss to break free. Ray ducks under a clothesline and answers with one of her own. Ray ducks under another and counters with a dropkick that sends the champ back int the corner. Ray fires up as the crowd comes alive for Mandy Rose. KLR with a moonsault off the top but Rose just barely gets her left shoulder up in a very awkward spot. KLR immediately covers and Rose kicks out at two again. KLR slaps a submission on Rose but Rose pivots, pushing Ray's shoulders down and forcing her to break the hold.
Kay Lee Ray goes for the KLR bomb but Rose counters in an athletic spot, Sunset flipping it into a pin attempt. Rose pulls KLR and threatens a Pedigree but Ray escapes. Ray looks for a Superkick but Rose rolls up Ray. Ray escapes and connects with the second Superkick but Rose still kicks out! Ray climbs to the top turnbuckle. Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin hit the ring. Jacy distracts the ref, allowing Gigi to shove Ray off the top turnbuckle! Dolin escapes before the ref can see her and Rose covers Ray, picking up the win!
Your Winner and STILL NXT Women's Champion, Mandy Rose!

After the Match: Batter's Up!

Toxic Attraction beat Ray afterwards, and Rose grabs a bat. Rose threatens to use it when Io Shirai hits the ring! Io takes on all of Toxic Attraction and successfully fights off all three of them. Io hits the 619 on Gigi Dolin and follows it up with a springboard dropkick that takes out both Dolin and Jayne. Rose attacks Shirai but KLR makes the save, hitting the KLR Bomb on Rose! Gigi & Jacy drag Rose out of the ring and to safety as KLR and Io taunt them from the ring and we end our program!
