WWE NXT 2.0 Quick Recap for Sept. 20, 2022

Matches Tonight: Eight (approx. 58 minutes)
  • Best-of-Three Series, Match Two: Nathan Frazer vs Axiom (A-Kid). Axiom won the first match last week. Frazer picked up the win, tying the series at one each. 8:07-8:20pm EST.
  • Tag Team Match: Toxic Attraction vs Ivy Nile & Tatum Paxley. TA picked up the win in a short match. 8:32-8:36pm EST.
  • Tag Team Match: Edris Enofé & Malik Blade vs the Dyad (fka the Grizzled Young Veterans). Solid match that saw the Dyad pick up the win. 8:44-8:53pm EST.
  • Singles Match: Wendy Choo vs Cora Jade. Jade picked up the win with a DDT. 9:01-9:05pm EST.
  • Tag Team Match: Chase University vs Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams. Chase U picked up the win after a great, albeit short, match. 9:13-9:20pm EST.
  • Singles Match: Sanga vs Von Wagner. Wagner picked up the win over Sanga in a short, but decent, match. 9:27-9:30pm EST.
  • Singles Debut North American Championship Qualifier Match: Oro Mensah vs Grayson Waller: Oro Mensah was known as Oliver Carter in NXT UK and was an NXT UK Tag Team champion with Ashton Smith. After a bloody-eyed Apollo Crews showed up to distract Waller, Mensah picked up the win and advances to the ladder match. 9:37-9:42pm EST.
  • Singles Number One Contendership Match: Tyler Bate vs JD McDonagh (Jordan Devlin). Good match with a fantastic final 3-4 minutes that saw Devlin pick up the win--he'll face Bron at Halloween Havoc. 9:53-10:06pm EST.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments of Note:
  • HBK Did Things: HBK stripped Solo Sikoa of the North American Championship, as Solo wasn't voted by the fans to fight Hayes last week (thus making his win, apparently illegitimate.) HBK refused to give the title to Hayes, announced a series of matches culminating in another five-man ladder match at Halloween Havoc for the vacated title. Also, the logo shown last week? The letters are now white, the trim is black and gold, and much of the colorful 2.0 aesthetic is still present.
  • Debuts: Oro Mensah (NXT UK's Oliver Carter) and Ilja Dragunov made their NXT roster debuts officially.
  • North American Championship Ladder Match, Updated: The first person announced was former champion Carmelo Hayes. Joining him was Oro Mensah who defeated Waller in a qualifying match.
  • Next Week on NXT 2.0: Wes Lee vs Tony D'Angelo in a North American Championship qualifier match. Sol Ruca debuts. Cameron Grimes takes on Joe Gacy. Gallus takes on Josh Briggs & Brooks Jensen in a Pub Rules Match.
