WWE NXT Quick Recap for 2/03/2021

Matches Tonight: 6
  • In a Women's Dusty Cup Semi Finals match, Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez defeated Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter.
  • In a Dusty Cup Quarter Finals match between Latino powerhouses the Lucha House Party and Legado Del Fantasma, the Legado pulled out the victory in an exciting match to advance to the Semi-Finals, where they'll battle MSK.
  • Austin Theory defeated Leon Ruff with the A-T-L. After the match, Dexter Lumis arrived and ripped a huge tuft of hair out of Theory's head.
  • Toni Storm defeated Jessi Kamea of the Robert Stone Brand by Disqualification. Mercedes Martinez hit the ring and attacked Toni Storm. Io Shirai came out, waited for the perfect opportunity to strike, and dove off the top to take out both women.
  • In a match for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship, Santos Escobar retained over Curt Stallion. Throughout the match there were Scarlett sightings.
  • Timothy Thatcher & Tommaso Ciampa defeated the Undisputed Era to advance to the Semi Finals of the Dusty Classic. The match started slow but ended very excitedly. Worth the watch.
Miscellaneous Non-Match Segments of Note:
  • Odd video promo for "Tian Sa" that may very well be Xia Li. She was heavily made up with makeup, seated on a throne with people around her, and cloaked in shadows. The narrator informs us the legend of Tian Sa, and implies the future superstar is thousands of years old. It should be on the WWE/YouTube video feed soon!
  • MSK cut a great promo at the top of the ramp, on Legado, hyping their match next week. Very good mic work for the rookies (to WWE).
  • Pete Dunne and Finn Bálor had a clash of words in the ring, with Bálor angrily challenging Dunne for TakeOver: Vengeance Day. This is the Valnetine's Day TakeOver that they've been hinting and mildly plugging for weeks. And then, right on time, Edge came out to cut a promo on both men. Worth watching. Essentially, he told Dunne & Finn that if he hasn't chosen a champion to fight by TakeOver: Vengeance Day, he'll be watching their match and it may help him make up his mind as he's a huge NXT fan. He cites the passion and hunger and excitement of the NXT Universe as what helped give him back the passion to come back from his injury and win the Rumble.
  • After the Stallion/Escobar match, Kross took out Wilde & Mendoza of Legado then told Escobar that he was giving him the gift of time--which is a double-edged sword. He ended the confrontation with "tick, tock!"
