Chloe Christmas, a referee on WWE NXT as well as on WWE 205 Live from time to time, will now be known as Paige going forward. It is interesting to note that WWE veteran Paige, who is a former NXT Women’s Champion as well as a former WWE Divas Champion, is still under contract with the WWE and the company still decided to name the WWE referee Paige, which could just be a coincidence or a rib on the former WWE Divas Champion.
The name change was made just a couple of days ago as the WWE referee took to her Twitter account and informed the fans with her new wrestling name to follow her new Instagram account. Former WWE NXT and WWE Divas Champion Paige last appeared on WWE TV in 2019 as the manager of the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane). She would then make an appearance (via Skype) on an episode of SmackDown in March of last year to announce a Women’s Title Match for WrestleMania 36.
Former WWE Divas and NXT Champion Paige would then become the co-host of WWE Backstage on FS1 in late 2019 until the show was forced to end due to the pandemic. Over the past number of months, the former WWE Divas and NXT Champion has been teasing a possible return to the ring after a neck injury in 2017 forced her into early retirement, but it is believed that she will never wrestle again in the WWE, so it is possible that she gets cleared to wrestle elsewhere.
On a related note, when WWE referee Paige initially tried out for the promotion in March of 2020, two of former WWE Divas and WWE NXT Champion Paige’s family members (Zak Bevis and Ricky Knight Jr.) were present at the tryouts. The former WWE Divas Champion took to Twitter and reacted to the news, with a laughing emoji as well as a Spider-Man pointing meme.
