Show-Opening Stuff

It's Saturday lunchtime, you know what that means. It's time for a Royal Rumble! And our show is starting right now! Michael Cole & Wade Barrett welcome us and we're treated to previous footage of several Superstars arriving at the temporary stadium. This goes on for a few minutes, actually. We then get a vignette, then an introduction to our commentary team, ahead of finally getting to our first match at 2:08pm EST.

Women's Royal Rumble Match

Hang in there with me, folks, its Rumble time. Writer's Update, 2:56pm: doing my best but 1-2 eliminations may have fallen through the cracks. Sorry! Charlotte Flair is out at #1 at 2:09pm. She takes quite some time making her entrance. Commentary reminds us that she's won the Women's Royal Rumble (WRR) twice. Other stats: this is her sixth Rumble, and she's always finished in the top 3. Wade Barrett highlights that it's all due to her genetics, and not her family name. Alexa BISS is #2 at 2:12pm. Updates coming with every entrant! We get our bell at 2:14pm EST. They spend the opening moments doing absolutely nothing, other than hinting that they could take each other out--for example, Bliss started a Sister Abigail but cancelled it; Flair started a Figure 8 but cancelled. Kiana James is out at #3, and comes in hot. Bliss & Flair work together to take her down ahead of Nia Jax at #4. She enters the ring and quickly drops a charging, screaming Bliss. She then quickly works to take down Flair, Bliss and James. Cole reminds us that Jax has never entered the WRR earlier than spot #19. Jax continues to dominate, using slams and Samoan Drops to great effect. James attempts to fight off Jax, then hits a standing splash to a downed Bliss & Flair. Jax pursues, charging James in the corner--only for James to move, causing Jax to crash into the corner. Ivy Nile is out at #5, her third Rumble. She charges the ring.
Nile hits the ring and quickly drops everyone, sans Jax. She steps up to Jax and attempts to slam her, but can't get her up. Nile attempts a German Suplex but can't get Jax up. Jax backs her up int a corner and throws back elbows, keeping Nile pinned between the turnbuckles and Jax's back. Lola Vice is #6 and charges the ring and unloads kicks on everyone, dropping everyone until she's the lone one standing. She begins to hit running hip attacks on Flair and Bliss, in opposite corners. Jax rises and shoves Vice down. Jax then double-clothelines James & Flair as they charge her, then smacks bliss down. Jax looks for an A-NIA-later (or however its spelled, sorry, busy covering a rumble) on James but James evades. Kiana James hoists Nia Jax up onto her shoulders and hits a Samoan Drop! Candace LeRae is #7, in her sixth Rumble. She casually trots to the ring. LeRae quickly begins to work with Nia Jax, rekindling their old friendship. Flair & Bliss work together to drop Jax then focus on LeRae and Vice. Jordynne Grace is out at 8 and rushes the ring in her third Rumble match.
Jordynne Grace works quick, eliminating Lola Vice, Candace LeRae and Ivy Nile in quick fashion. Jax and Grace square up briefly but are interrupted. Grace is neutralized, so Jax begins to take on Flair & Bliss two-on-one. She ends up dumped on the apron with Bliss; Flair big-boots Jax at 2:27pm and eliminates Nia Jax & Alexa Bliss simultaneously. Flair desperately reaches for Bliss, trying to prevent the elimination, but fails. Becky Lynch is out ninth. Lynch and Flair immediately clash, and Cole reminds us of their very-lengthy history. The two brawl in the ring, crocodile-rolling out of the ring. As they went under the bottom rope, they're not eliminated. Sol Ruca is out at tenth and jogs to the ring. She immediately drops Flair with a springboard 360 clothesline, then takes Lynch out before focusing on Jordynne Grace. Roxanne Perez is out at 11 at 2:31pm. She spends the time clashing with various Superstars, nothing noteworthy. Maxxine Dupri is our 12th entrant and immediately seeks out Lynch. Lynch hits a Lou Thesz Press on Dupri then sends her to the apron. Dupri battles back, eventually heading up top and hitting a crossbody to Lynch from the top turnbuckle. Lynch & Dupri continue to battle, with Dupri hitting a nice Fisherwoman Suplex. She continues to clean house, and hits a beautiful standing jumping leg drop on Kiana James. Nattie--not Natalya--is #13. We're reminded this is her new gimmick/look. She comes out with her new music and modified new (KSA) look. She heads right for Dupri.
The two brawl for a bit. Lynch eliminates Dupri at 2:35pm and pats Nattie on the back, trying to temporarily ally...before quickly trying to throw Nattie recovers and eliminates Lynch at 2:36pm. We get out fourteenth entrant--Liv Morgan who streaks to the ring and immediately takes it to Sol Ruca, hitting the Three Amigos. Jordynne Grace looks to charge Morgan in the corner; Perez quickly moves in between, using her body to shield Morgan. We get Lash Legend at 15. She hits the ring and begins hittin' chokeslams on anyone and everyone. She poses, pointing at the ring. Jordynne Grace recovers and clashes with Legend. Nattie and Liv Morgan battle in another corner. Lash is dumped to the apron and battles Jordynne Grace at the ropes. Lash lifts Grace up in a Fireman's carry and eliminates Grace at 2:40pm by dumping her to the floor! Zelina Vega is #16 and in her seventh Rumble. She casually makes her way to the ring. Chaos ensues until Raquel Rodriguez, our 17th entrant, makes her way out. All three the Judgment Day women are now in this battle, and they quickly group up to use the numbers to their advantage. Haha, the three TJD Superstars hug it out...and while they do, everyone else works hard to get rid of Charlotte Flair.
Chelsea Green is our 18th entrant, and is escorted down to the ring by Alba Fyre. She enters the ring and tries to ally with The Judgment Day. Morgan slaps Green; Green slaps Morgan. The Judgment Day proceed to stomp Green down. Alba Fyre tries to pull Green out; TJD pull Green and Fyre into the ring. They proceed to "eliminate" Fyre by throwing her over the top. She is not in this match. WWE Women's United States Champion Guilia, #18, is out next. She quickly proceeds to the ring. Okay, I'll proceed to stop saying "proceed" now. Bro, I should've been timing these because I do not feel they're equally spaced out. Absolutely nothing happened in what felt like far less than ninety seconds. Iyo Sky is #19 and happily makes her way to the ring. More chaos ensues. Asuka is #21 and we're reminded that she won the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble. Asuka drunken-dances her way to the ring. Iyo tries to ally with Asuka and Giulia; they agree to ally, together, in beating Iyo's butt for the remainder of the period. Iyo gets backup, however, as her tag team partner Rhea Ripley is out at 22! She enters the ring and Chelsea Green salutes her as Zelina Vega is eliminated at 2:53pm by, I think, Roxanne Perez. Sorry, Rumbles are chaotic.

Perez attempts to catch Rhea with a Pop-Rox but Ripley counters and eliminates Perez with a Razor's Edge to the outside at 2:54pm. The Judgment Day remainder double-team Ripley in the corner. Bayley is out at 23 and runs to the ring. She engages with Sol Ruca, who stands on the apron, and drags her nearly off the apron. Bayley finally steps on the apron--why on Earth Sol Ruca decided to exit over the top rope, to stand on the apron, to try o kick an entering Bayley, I have no clue. We're reminded that Charlotte Flair has been in this match over 41 minutes. Bayley and Flari clash, chopping each other down to size. #24 is NXT Women's Champion Jacy Jayne. She saunters down to the ring. Rhea and Nattie clash, that's the highlight. Sorry, folks, but there's like 12-14 Superstars in and around the ring brawling right now. They need to thin the herd. Speaking of, Liv Morgan eliminates Natalya with an Ob-LIV-ion at 2:58pm! Nikki Bella is #25 and in her fourth(!!!) Royal Rumble. She makes her way to the ring. She immediately comes into conflict with Liv Morgan. More chaos ensues.

Lyra Valkyria is #26 and heads to the ring. A few teases of slow, low-energy "oh no, they almost got eliminated." The Superstars and the crowd are very low-energy right now. Giulia is eliminated at 3:01pm. Seconds later, we get Kelani Jordan at #27 in her first-ever Rumble. We're reminded that Jordan is a former TNA Knockouts World Champion and NXT Women's North American Champion. She begins attacking everyone when she hits the ring. Kairi Sane is #28and immediately attacks Iyo Sky. She takes down Bayley, then raises Asuka's hand and plays to the crowd. The duo try to eliminate Ripley, who hangs on. Iyo makes the save. Kairi Sane accidentally eliminates Asuka at 3:05pm. Oops. Iyo Sky eliminates Kairi Sane moments later, dumping Kairi over the top. Oh, great, Brie Bella is #29. The crowd eats it up, using a massive "Yes" chant to welcome her back. She begins to work over Raquel, hitting the Yes Kicks to a massive crowd. Michael Cole: "she's paying homage to...they're now called the It Kicks, you get the (hint), folks." Aww.
Tiffany Stratton is #30 and the final one out. She's been out of action for several months with a knee injury. She rushes the ring, heads up top, yells "It's Tiffy Time" and hits a Swanton off the top to wipe out a pack. Final update coming soon, hang tight folks. The crowd shifts into overdrive, rolling off fiery chant after chant and whipping out lights. The speed picks up as multiple Superstars shift battling partners multiple times. The Bellas work together to take on Lyra & Bayley for a period. They try to eliminate Brie; all four end up battling at the ropes. The Bellas use stereo Hurricanranas to eliminate Bayley & Lyra at 3:11pm. They call them Losers. There are 12 Superstars left in this match per Cole. Kelani Jordan attempts an athletic save but Jacy Jayne eliminates Jordan, only to be eliminated by Sol Ruca, at 3:12pm. We should be at 10 Superstars. Lash Legend takes on both Bellas, threatening to chokeslam them. They fight her off...but both Bellas are eliminated by Lash Legend at 3:13pm when she back-drops them over the nearby rope! The KSA fans aren't happy about that!
Sol Ruca attempts to eliminate Flair, but Flair battles out of it. Flair & Legend battle on the apron. Lash Legend eliminates Flair at 3:13pm with a big boot on the apron! Flair was eliminated 11 seconds shy of the hour mark. Raquel drops Iyo on the apron; Rhea makes the save, hitting a Riptide on Raquel. Lash clubs Rhea with a clothesline from behind. Iyo tries to make the save but Lash picks her up in a two-handed choke and dumps her over the top rope. Iyo hangs on, pulling Lash over the top with her legs. Lash & Iyo dangle from the ropes over the outside until Legend eliminates Sky with a heel kick to the nose, causing Iyo to drop at 3:15pm. That's Legend's fifth elimination tonight.

Lash and Rhea finally square up in the middle of the ring, dropping anyone who'd dare interfere. They begin to unload on each other and battle it out. Raquel Rodriguez blindsides Ripley, then steps up to Lash Legend. The two powerhouses begin to club it out. Legend catches Raquel and hits a Fallaway Slam, then kips up. The fans do not like Lash. Rhea re-enters the fray and eliminates Lash Legend at 3:17pm. Sadly, Rhea Ripley is eliminated by Raquel--but wait, there's more! Liv Morgan eliminates Raquel Rodriguez on purpose! Liv Morgan, Tiffany Stratton, and Sol Ruca are our final three. It's 3:18pm EST. All chaos ensues. Liv attempts an Ob-LIV-ion on Stratton after Stratton hits the Prettiest Moonsault Ever. Ruca hits a double-Sol Snatcher on them both and all three women wind up battling on the apron! Stratton slams Sol's head into the ring post but Ruca hangs on. Ruca looks for a Sol Snatcher but makes a mistake--she uses the turnbuckle to try to pop-up and attack Stratton. Stratton just shoves her aside, causing Ruca to crash to the ground. Morgan immediately strikes Stratton with an Ob-LIV-ion outta nowhere and picks up the win at 3:21pm!
Your Winner, Liv Morgan! (67 minutes; entrant #15)

Singles Match: AJ Styles* vs Gunther

* If AJ Styles loses, he must retire today. Out first is "the Career Killer" Gunther at 3:32pm. We're reminded that he defeated Goldberg in his final match last summer, and also made Cena tap out in his final match last month. Gunther gets a decent heel reaction. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles is out next to a great pop for what could be his final match. We get our bell at 3:37pm and both Superstars lock up, engaging in an opening and lengthy display of move-and-countermove. Commentary spends a good bit of time mentioning Gunther's "Achille's heel" of sorts, in that he's tapped out twice in recent years. The pacing early on is kept intentionally slow, with both veterans taking time to size up each other. Offense is generally spent on working holds and softening joints for potential manipulation. Gunther takes control around 3:40pm, using chops to stun Styles before slapping in a very lengthy side headlock. Gunther sends Styles outside, dominating early on. Commentary reminds us that Gunther's pulling double-duty tonight, as he'll also be in the Royal Rumble match later tonight.

Gunther continues to chop and control Styles at the ringside area, methodically taking Styles apart bit-by-bit. Gunther routinely rolls in and out of the ring to break the ref's ten-count. Finally Gunther takes it back into the ring. Cole states Styles is having issues breathing after having his ribs dropped across the barricade earlier. Gunther uses a strong Irish Whip to send Styles into, and rebounding off-of, the corner turnbuckles. Cole notes that the ref's put on gloves and there's some blood on Gunther, but we're unsure where it's coming from. Scratch that--AJ has a laceration on his left forearm, apparently acquired when he was dropped across the commentary table. Doesn't look too bad. Gunther slaps a Boston Crab on AJ Styles in the center of the ring at 3:44pm. Styles manages to fight Gunther off; Gunther charges right back over and kicks AJ in the ribs. Again, Cole states nonchalantly that Styles is having issues breathing. Gunther continues to work over Styles, "punishing" him in the words of Cole.

Styles begins to rally, stringing together offensive strikes to set up his trademarked Styles combo (does it have a name? Weigh in below if so, I'll credit you!) Styles looks for a Styles Clash; Gunther tries to escape by rolling through. Styles hangs on, rolling through it further back into a Styles Clash position. Gunther with a Scorpion Kick to gain some separation, then hits a beautiful textbook swinging lariat that levels Styles. Gunther continues his offense and hits a huge Powerbomb, covering at 3:49pm--no joy! Gunther and AJ take several moments down; the ref checks on both individually. Gunther is the first to rise and stalks AJ in the corner. The Ring General fires off a big chop, then whips AJ into the opposite corner. Gunther follows but Style dodges. Styles grabs the leg, rolls through and locks in the Calf Crusher in the middle of the ring and just like that, this crowd's back into it! Gunther tries to escape but Styles rolls them back closer to the middle of the ring. Gunther, desperate, pivots and slaps a Sleeper on Styles!

Styles releases the Calf Crusher and tries to rise but Gunther won't let go. Styles drops back, forcing Gunther to let go or be pinned. Gunther immediately slaps the Sleeper back on and Styles battles to his feet, dumping Gunther over the top rope at 3:51pm EST. Styles with a Phenomenal Forearm from the ring to Gunther on the floor, dropping him. Styles takes it back inside and ascends the turnbuckles, but too slowly. Gunther recovers and hits a big chop to stop AJ's ascent. Gunther climbs the middle turnbuckle, looking for a Superplex. AJ wiggles free and looks for a move but Gunther escapes. Gunther tries for a Powerbomb; Styles again wiggles free and executes a Powerbomb of his own, covering for two! Styles heads to the apron and hits a springboard 450! Styles sets up the Styles Clash and fires it off! Styles covers for a very close 2.9 at 3:54pm! Gunther kicks out! Styles heads to the apron again, calling for a Phenomenal Forearm. He launches--Gunther catches him in a Sleeper! AJ with a standing switch and slaps on a Sleeper! They crash into the corner, smooshing the ref but the ref's good. However, due to positioning, the ref fails to see Gunther with a mule kick to AJ's phenomenal assets! Gunther covers but no joy, Styles kicks out!

Gunther argues with the ref about the count, giving Styles a few precious seconds to recover. Styles uses the turnbuckles to pull himself up as Gunther stalks and the crowd chants. Gunther with a big chop. And again! And again! AND AGAIN! (Okay, Bucky Barnes.) Gunther begins to stomp and batter AJ in the corner. The ref checks on Styles, pushing Gunther back. Gunther comes back in once the ref checks and rapid-fires chop after chop after chop once again. The ref, again, checks on Styles and warns Gunther. Wade Barrett worries the ref may throw this one out. Styles, however, makes his way to his feet. Gunther again fires off a series of chops, none of which AJ can even get his hands up to deflect. Gunther clotheslines Styles down and, again, the ref checks on AJ. Gunther paces, squats, then stalks the rising Styles. Gunther with more chops; Styles fires off rights, finally. Styles with a flurry of fists and chops, battering Gunther into a corner until the ref warns Styles.

AJ charges in; Gunther pops him up over the rope to the apron. Styles looks for a Phenomenal Forearm but Gunther catches him on his shoulders. Styles looks for a Pele Kick but Gunther avoids it and slaps in a Sleeper on AJ in the middle of the ring. AJ begins to fade and the ref checks on Styles. AJ isn't done fighting, however, and begins to throw right elbows into Gunther's ribs to gain some separation. AJ battles to his feet, but Gunther won't break the sleeper and forces AJ down to the mat again. Styles throws left elbows back at Gunther, hammering his leg, desperately trying to get free. AJ is inches from the ropes, straining to crawl closer. He gets his fingers almost to the ropes; Gunther slaps Styles' hand away and drags him back a few inches. Gunther rises, drops some elbows on Styles' head, then slaps the Sleeper back on. The ref checks Styles' arm just once, quickly, and determines Styles is out at 4:01pm. That...that's the end of a career, folks. Wow.
Your Winner, Gunther. (24 minutes)

After the Match

Gunther exits the ring. AJ Styles begins to regain consciousness and realizes what's happened. Damn. He takes several long moments letting things sink in. The crowd with very loud chants for him. He takes his gloves off, struggling to put them down on the mat. He eventually stops, putting the gloves back on to a huge pop. He still looks in mourning as he raises his hands to the crowd. He exits the ring but stops just at the entrance to the ramp. He enters the ring, poses on the ring post, and that's it. I guess he's still retiring despite the glove thing (I think the crowd took him putting them back on as he's not retiring). I'm so confused right now. Presumably, based on Cole and Wade's comments, AJ Styles is now retired.

Undisputed WWE Championship Match: Drew McIntyre(c) vs Sami Zayn

At 4:16pm EST, we get the entrance for local favorite Sami Zayn. He gets a massive welcome from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He marches determinedly to the ring ahead of our penultimate match. Love hearing the crowd sing along so enthusiastically. We're reminded of several things: Sami's never beaten Drew, he's never lost in the KSA, and he's never won a world title. The Champ, Drew McIntyre, is out next. Sami remains in a squat-sit position, clearly locked in for this match, all his silliness replaced with seriousness. We get our bell at 4:23pm. Darn, so close! Both men immediately clash, using big blows and suplexes to set the pace for our opening minutes. Make that the first nearly ten minutes. Just a whole lot of Drew dominating Sami, slowing the pace, taunting his opponent, and a lot of Michael Cole foreshadowing things. McIntyre looks for a Claymore at 4:32pm but Zayn moves out of the way, then takes down Drew. After ten minutes of enduring abuse, Sami finally shows a smidge life. The crowd continues to chant for Sami, motivating him to climb the turnbuckles.

McIntyre rallies first, leaping to attack Zayn on the turnbuckles. Drew heads up the ropes himself and picks up Zayn, hitting the White Noise off the middle turnbuckle. Drew covers but Sami kicks out. Commentary tells us that Sheamus will not be happy about McIntyre using his move. Drew pulls Sami up and looks for a Future Shock DDT but Sami ducks under. Sami looks for a backslide; Drew escapes and hits a Future Shock DDT! Drew pulls him up and hits a second Future Shock DDT! Drew pulls him up again and hits a third Future Shock DDT! Drew covers at 4:34pm, picking up a two count before Sami kicks out. Sami fish-flops across the ring to the corner. McIntyre allows Sami to rise and approaches. Sami looks for a snap Exploder Suplex but McIntyre blocks it. McIntyre executes several running clotheslines before hitting a Claymore. Drew covers but Sami gets his left foot on the nearby ropes, making the save. Cole mentions McIntyre's arrogance cost him, as he should've hooked the outside leg.

Drew backs the ref--"Lil' Natich" Charles Robinson--into a corner, threatening him. Outta nowhere, Sami makes the save with a Helluva Kick on McIntyre! Zayn covers but McIntyre kicks out just in the nick of time. Drew rolls out of the ring, buying himself time to recover. Sami, much slower, rolls outside to pursue. Zayn's lower back, weakened during the match, gives out as he tries to pull Drew up into a move. McIntyre powerbombs Zayn onto the commentary table, causing it to collapse. Cole & Barrett explain the physics of how going through a table can hurt the lower back. Drew grabs Sami and takes him back into the ring, not letting officials tend to Sami. McIntyre begins to stomp on Zayn's lower back, then takes time to taunt Zayn verbally. "Do it for your son, stay down! Stay down, damnit! You don't have what it takes!" A defiant Zayn responds with a Exploder to rock the champ. Zayn posts up in the corner and charges in for a Helluva, only to be intercepted with a Claymore from McIntyre! Drew posts up in the corner, stalking Sami. Drew yells "look me in the eye" before hitting another Claymore on Sami. Drew covers and picks up the win at 4:39pm!
Your Winner AND STILL Undisputed WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre! (16 minutes)

Royal Rumble Match

It's main event time! We get our rules at 4:52pm. Yeah, roughly 13-15 minutes in between match these days and it's all ads. Used to be backstage filler. Oh well. Out at #1 is Oba Femi! From Lagos, Nigeria, weighing in at 310 pounds and standing at 6'6", the Rule swaggers his way down to the ring. Thanks to the preshow, we know Bron Breakker is #2. He makes his way out at 4:55pm, but is attacked by a masked man on the way up the ramp. The masked person hits the Stomp on Breakker--in shades of Austin Theory's recent actions--before being sent into the ring. We get our bell at 4:56pm. Bron Breakker leans on the rope. Oba Femi charges and eliminates Bron Breakker immediately. Wow. Well, we spend the rest of the period in disbelief. The masked person escapes. Solo Sikoa is out at #3. The two clash, with Oba Femi quickly taking control. Rey Mysterio is our fourth entrant, entering the fray right at 5pm EST. He gets a huge pop, with the crowd loudly singing along with his POD theme. Rey hits the ring and begins to unload on both Rey and Solo. The "Giant Killer" sets up a 619 on Sikoa but Sikoa catches him, hoisting him up. Femi charges in, hitting a boot to Solo's face and dropping both Sikoa & Mysterio. Femi takes Solo to a corner and begins to foot choke him. Rusev is out at 5. Know what this ring is? Mmm, beefy! Oba goes on the warpath, quickly eliminating Rusev, Sikoa and Mysterio quickly before we get Matt Cardona out at #6. He gets a few moves in before Oba eliminates him as well. Counting Breakker, Oba is at 5 eliminations so far.
Damian Priest is lucky #7 and makes his way to the ring. The two behemoths begin to battle it out, throwing big shoulders and stone fists as neither seems to take control. They battle the entire period. Oba Femi at one point catches a leaping Priest, threatening a slam as if Priest weren't 6'5". "The Young OG" Je'Von Evans is our eighth competitor. He hits the ring in a streak, having history with Oba Femi from their days in NXT. Evans dodges kicks from Priest; Femi takes Priest down from behind. Evans with a cutter attempt on Femi, but Femi catches him. The two battle at the ropes and Evans nearly falls out of the ring. Evans continues to work on the apron, fighting off both Femi and Priest for a period. Evans eventually leaps over the ropes, over Priest, and takes out Femi. He uses his athletic prowess to great effect to stay alive until AAA's Mr. Iguana is out at 9. The action continues. Mr Iguana gives Priest his Iguana at some point, and Priest double chokeslams Mr. Iguana and his puppet. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Iguana is eliminated. Coming out at #10, and representing yours truly in the Raj Rumble (see the comments below), is the astute, the astounding, the astonishing, the affably effervescent Trick Williams! Hell yeah, I have a chance!
They all battle unremarkably until Cody Rhodes is out at 11. Only a handful of Superstars have won the Rumble thrice. The next period passes hella fast. El Grande Americano is out at 12! "The absolute best luchador on planet Earth, with a hundred years of experience." Wade Barrett's words, not mine! El Grande Americano (EGA) goes after Evans and more chaos ensues in the. We have 6 active Superstars, and 6 eliminated. It's currently 5:15pm EST. El Grande Americano (EGA) puts the metal plate inside his mask and begins headbutting everyone, dropping Williams and Evans both. At #13--"the Original" El Grande Americano returns! Holy smokes, folks, he's back! The OG EGA and EGA stare each other down, Spider-man meme style, before engaging. EGA and OG EGA battle to the apron. OG EGA is dumped over the ropes but holds on; EGA tries to unmask the OG EGA but the OG EGA pulls EGA out of the ring, eliminating him. The OG EGA is then eliminated. Sorry for any confusion--all Grande Americans have been eliminated.

But out next? Powerhouse Hobbs is #14!...then is quickly renamed as Royce Keys. They legit showed Powerhouse Hobbs in the tron, called him that, then immediately told us his new name. Hobbs clears house a bit, then confronts Cody Rhodes and commentary discusses their history in other promotions. Austin Theory is out at #15. He buys time before being joined by stablemate "Big" Bronson Reed at 16. The Vision teammates begin to work together, attempting to assert control over the ring. Ilja Dragunov is #17 and the action continues. Gotta admit, the Women's Royal Rumble felt more exciting at this point in the match. Out at #18--the current iteration of AAA's La Parka! I watched his predecessor in WCW back in the day. Skinny La Parka works on suplexing and dropping various Superstars. Cody tries to eliminate Evans. Now Cody tries to eliminate Ilja. Oh wait, no, Cody's now walking over to Femi. Four seconds later, he moves on to Reed. ....now you see why the results might be a little condensed? Nothing noteworthy to report on. Stay tuned, the exciting details come when the exciting moves happen. Dragon Lee is out at 19. Time is killed. Logan Paul is out next, at 20, and begins to work with his Vision stablemates to control the ring. Royce Keys is eliminated by the Vision, as are La Parka and Dragon Lee. Meanwhile Cody focuses on Evans, Femi focuses on Ilja. LA Knight is out at 21 to a big pop, returning after a brief month or so hiatus.
Knight hits the ring strong, eliminating in quick fashion both Bronson Reed and Austin Theory before turning his sights on Logan Paul. Brock Lesnar is out at 22, escorted to the ring by Paul Heyman! We have 6 active--Brock, Knight, Paul, Cody, Evans, and Femi. Lesnar comes in and dominates, taking everyone in his way to Suplex City. He drops everyone in his way...but hasn't crossed with Oba Femi, yet. F5 to Je'Von Evans by Lesnar! The crowd is on fire for Lesnar. Lesnar and Femi slowly step up to each other. The Miz is out at 23, interrupting them. The Miz hits the ring at 5:33pm, his 17th Rumble and one shy of Kane's record. The ring erupts as most everyone gangs up on Lesnar and Femi. Lesnar eliminates Dragunov, tossing him over the top rope. Lesnar again takes everyone to Suplex City. Finally, it's just Lesnar and Femi standing and the crowd are again on their feet. And, again, they're interrupted--this time by the entering Rey Fenix at #24. Nice anime-sounding music. Lesnar and Femi kind of mutually agree to circle back to their inevitable showdown. Fenix springboards into the ring, but Lesnar catches him midair and uses him as a weapon, throwing him. Lesnar with an F5 on Oba Femi outta nowhere! Lesnar with an F5 on Rey Fenix, then tosses him out, eliminating Rey Fenix.

Lesnar taunts Femi, laughing at the big man. The two finally come to blows, with Femi dropping Lesnar with a clothesline. Logan is nearly eliminated; Femi turns his attention to Paul, allowing Lesnar to eliminate Femi! Lesnar with a German Suplex on an unsuspecting Logan Paul. Jey Uso is out next at 25. We're reminded he won last year's Rumble, and he spends several moments entering the ring by way of the crowd. LA Knight and Cody work together during this to eliminate Lesnar! Jey takes his sweet time getting to the ring, then tells them to run it back. Jey gets on the corner turnbuckle and has them run it back. By the time he's done with his entrance, it's time for #26--Roman Reigns! Speaking of long-winded entrances. Roman actually takes only half the time Jey did! We're reminded that Reigns won the Rumble...in 2015. Cool. Roman and Jey meet in the ring; Roman tells Jey to roll it back with a grin, and Jey has them do just that. As soon as Jey starts to dance, Roman clocks him with a big right! Haha!

After the Match

We get shots of Roman pointing at the sign then see some pyro and a drone show over parts of the city; it goes on for several long minutes, and commentary never signs off. We just see the post-show crew telling us that the post-show is coming up next. Weird. Well, thanks for joining us. The PLE is now over. Feel free to touch that dial, change that channel, and open a new tab. Y'all take care, stay safe, and don't forget Mr. Awesome and all our fallen Rajahmaniacs. See you around in the comments section!
