WWE announced late last year that they will be launching a Talent Brand Management department or what they call a Talent Management Group, which is a department to help develop their own wrestler's brand both in and out of the WWE. This includes the third party bookings for film, TV, and sponsorships for their talents, among other things.
Unfortunately, this department didn't last long as PWInsider.com recently reported that the promotion has already shut it down. It was also mentioned on the report that the decision to shut the group was made just a few weeks back and that it only existed for four to five weeks.
This department or group was reportedly created as a way for the company to tighten their grip on the talents working individually with third parties like Cameo or Twitch (or even just mentioning them on social media). This comes after WWE Chairman Vince McMahon issued an edict, wherein wrestlers weren't allowed to use these third party platforms such as YouTube, Cameo, OnlyFans and others in addition to wrestlers having their own sponsorships. It was then be clarified that Stars could use the platforms, but under their real names.
Below is a description of what the department would bring to the table, courtesy of the WWE:
“WWE Talent Management Group will deliver best-in-class 360-degree support of Talent across all internal lines of business and key external partners, amplifying Talent brand value and maximizing monetization opportunities for Talent and WWE.”
